Despite all the strikes and opposition and the petition pending in Supreme Court and Govt not replying to them, The bill for the reservation for OBCs, is passed in Lok sabha today including the riches in categories as well. So clearly we can say that the people can't hear with Gandhian principles or even the Laws....

So the question is, Is it the time to move away from Gandhian Principles to get the justice done???

Gandhiji's Principles will be good in any Era. Bunch of politicans of 21st Century cannot put Gandhiism to an end.

yeah way overdue. The weapon of non-voilence/strike has been used so many times, it has lost its effectiveness.

Time to use more effective measures to make politicians understand the implications of their actions

GOD SAVE INDIA ! GOD SAVE INDIANS ! GOD SAVE INDIAN UPPERCASTE PEOPLE FROM RESERVATIONS! GOD SAVE OTHER CASTE PEOPLE FROM GETTING RUINED FROM EXCESSIVE RESERVATIONS.
Its Uncle Ambedkar who is so clever and introduced this concept.Gandhiji did'nt think India will develop at this rate and thought reservations does'nt matter much .Its time we get a NETAJi!!
These politicains never try to help the needy.Vinashakale viprit Bhuddhi!! and we have in telugu one proverb which says "Peruguta viriguta koreke"(IMMENSE RISE IS FOR DESTRUCTION ONLY) so I feel these reservations will increase to some 100% and one fine day it gets nullified.Let us hope,pray for that day.

Thanks for your views.... I consider there are many problems because of unethical practises used by the polititians, reservations being one of them. It was introduced at a right time to give a push to certain section of people, without any other measures towards it....

Protests and strikes is old measure, I agree with sarg that it has partly become ineffective.... we have to hit the stem of all this i.e. Politics.... More and more youths should come in with ethical and professional tactics......

As per the legal system, Parliament hold more rights than even the supreme court and constitution holds more rights than the leaders.... With this background there are very strange observations:
1. There is no summons or no cutting in fees for not being available in the Lok sabha or Rajya sabha....
2. While we have laws to take action for condemnation of Courts, but no such laws for condemn in Parliament, which happens everyday
3. While the votes on bills are to be done, the parties who are not in favour leave voting in protest rather than voting against the bill....
4. There is no basic qualification or educational background for politicians....
5. There is no law prohibiting people with criminal background from coming in to politics.....

This are the roots of all the other causes... If the action is taken in above cases, all the politicians will be fined or punished for this acts.... and most of them can't even contest the elections.... Being the supreme authority, this basic needs have been ignored by the constitution....

I remember the " Mandal" days.. where our college spearheaded the anti reservation stir in our state...a BJP govt was at the helm of affairs in the state then and they backed the stir as a ploy against the then central government...
Police men would be present but would look away when we blocked traffic on highway for hours...

the protests ended after a while...a few months later their was an attempt to revive the stir...but by then the political leaders of the state had a different agenda and didnt want to support the stir

...we were part of a peaceful protest march and I remember the sudden entry of the policemen who roughed up all the boys and put them in jail..

A 360 degree turn in a matter of months...that was such a big lesson for all of us and we realised why they are right in saying never trust a politician...

I wish that some day in the future we can have cleaner politics with politicians who have some convictions and values...
But for the present day politics...I'll borrow from the very famous quote of the very famous Mr. Bachhan.." politics is a cesspool" ( why is he hob nobbing with Mulayam Singh btw???)

Coming back the the question that kabhi asked...well even if we resort to non gandhigiri methods...the political system is too strong for the average Indians to oppose...

But in a situation like the current one a RDB methodology is definitely better than a Munnabhai!

Will that resolve the issue?
The trouble is that most people know what they don't wish to follow (Gandhian principles- unfortunately for many, his principles begin and end with STRIKE 🤢.. Strike was his non-violent weapon that worked back then. His principle was satyagraha. ).
Do they have alternate plans? If violence (non-Gandhian) is involved, would that be fair?
During the freedom struggle, we had an enemy that was not a progeny of our motherland.
Extremists such as Veer Shahis bhagatsingh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Sardar Patel, Lokmanya Bal gangadhar Tilak, Agarkar, Swatantryaveer Savarkar, Netaji Subhash and several others who did not believe in / follow Gandhian principles employed their techniques and followed a path of violence even, for protecting our motherland and succeeded because they were freedom fighters. Whose blood do we shed now? The reservations are for our people.. not foreigners.
It has been over 50 years, and we have not been able to retain his fundamental principles (ahinsa, satyam, asteya, brahmacharya, asangrah, shrama, aswad, sarvatra Bhayavarjana,Sarva Dharma Samantva Swadeshi) yet amend the method (strike ) to suit the needs as he probably would have done in the 21st century. Whose fault is that?

Abhi-Kabhi, I support the anti-reservation campaign but what can we do other than signing petitions or supporting the fasting activists?

most people forget violence was also a part of our freedom struggle..RDB brought thst to the forefront

India was never completely into gandhian principles..

I wonder what is the end to this anti-reservation campaign.. Can the government take back reservations?? Tamil Nadu has more than 50% reservation... Can they take back reservations peacefully.. Im all for it.. but politicians??
