Gurgaon is the most modern boom-town of 'India Shining', the new frontier to be conquered by those who understand real estate. This city rose from a small town to a boom town satellite city in just fifteen years.

However the law and order is yet to catch up.

A family of Policemen…A family of Gangsters…

Under the guise of a respected citizen, Yashwardhan (Jackie Shroff) runs a parallel world a world, where he is the Emperor.

To bring down a criminal… the law will have to now think like a criminal!

When Vishal (Arjun Kapoor) is planted in Yashwardhan's world in place of Ajay (Arjun Kapoor), the lawmakers (Rishi Kapoor & Prithviraj) roll the dice and a sequence of events unravel something much more than what Vishal bargained for, as he finds himself in a predicament that puts him to the test!

Aurangzeb: Movie Review

Oneindia Entertainment

After Ishaqzaade, The Yash Raj Films' is again back with their new, hot favourite Arjun Kapoor in the latest release Aurangazeb. The film has been in the news, ever since the first theatrical went online and created a huge buzz. Aurangzeb is interestingly set in land mafia or the upsurge of Gurgoan from a small village on map to India's one of the biggest and fastest growing city. Apart from Arjun Kapoor, the movie features Prithviraj Sukumaran, Amrita Singh, Jackie Shroff, Rishi Kapoor and others in the leads. Our reviewer is currently watching the movie at the theatre, and we are here to update you with some tit bits given by her.

Story: The story follows Yashvardhan (Jackie Shroff) a real estate developer in Gurgaon known for illegal works, due to Yashvardhan's top crew member Ajay (Arjun Kapoor) who leaves no evidence after a job is done. The police department then capture Ajay and torture him, while they send out Ajay's lookalike, Vishal, to Yashvardhan. Vishal joins the crew and becomes an informer, whilst Ajay is being tortured into snitching all of Yashvardhan's business secrets. It is further revealed that Ajay and Vishal were twins who were separated and now the Police is taking advantage of it.

Music: The music of the film is composed by Amartya Rahut and Vipin Mishra lyrics penned by Puneet Sharma, Manoj Kumar Nath and Vipin Mishra. Aurangzeb has interesting compositions and the music is well put together, but not an all round soundtrack as it won't appeal to the masses. Performances so far: Arjun Kapoor manages to switch between his double roles in the movie. He does an impressive job, but, someone, who can called as the show stealer is none other than Rishi Kapoor. He is too good and just marvellous. On the other hand, Jackie Shroff too excels in his evil role, and Swara Bhaskar is breathtaking. Vertdict so far: Amidst a lot of hype, we aren't that impressed with Aurangzeb, but, the film needs a special mention when it comes to some A-one performances. We'll be right back in sometime with the final review of Aurangzeb...

It has now been a decade since we witnessed a flick with a twin role formula in it. Atul Sabharwal, known for some renowned staid TV series Powder and a taut thriller "My wife's Murder" has brought in the Masala factor into his directorial venture Aurangzeb.

Ajay (Arjun Kapoor) is the most cunning employee of the real estate developer Yashvardhan (Jackie Shroff) in Delhi who under the disguise of his property empire runs a crime world.

Well-versed with Yash's unethical activities, senior inspector Ravikanth (Rishi Kapoor) alongwith his team including Arya (Prithviraj Sukamaran) and Dev (Sikender Kher) kidnaps Ajay and infiltrates his lookalike Vishal (Arjun Kapoor) to Yash's empire to know all the secrets triggering black money.

But in the interim, Vishal and Ajay are left stunned when they learn that they are twin brothers who were parted in their teenage days, knowing this that police is taking their undue advantage. So, will brothers unite or will they be dominated by the unwise tactics of the cops? That's how the story deals further.

Atul has picked up the old spices and served in into the new recipe which might not be that delicious. Surely the idea hit our wits for a while but could not convince.

The execution over here is half baked. You tend to hold your seat till the interim with some thrills and surprises. This serves the purpose to some extent, but in the second innings it goes predictable and the dialogues go wacky.

Atul tried to pay a tribute to the legendary Javed-Salim duo with his punch lines. Some dialogues sound hard-hitting and have impact, but a few go stale.

Rishi Kapoor loves to experiment and is ubiquitous in every second flick. Here the cop's role suits him. He is the person in command and his dialogue delivery looks dominant.

The South Indian star Prithviraj, who previously failed in his debut flick Aiyaa, finds some earth with his performance.

Debutant Sashaa Agha playing Arjun's lover interest is impressive when she talks and flaunts.

Jackie Shroff as a cunning mafia brings back his days. His body language has an impressive aura and is compelling which is seen in the flick.

Amrita Singh, witnessed on screen after a long time does a good job.

Lastly, the Ishaqzaade actor Arjun Kapoor delivers a good act in a beam and boisterous look. He delivers his dialogues with the same finesse as he carried in his debut flick.

Music by Amartya Rahut and Vipin Mishra is semi-perky. You would love the soulful Jigar-Fikra track while Barbadiyaan is energetic. The background score accompanies the scenes.

Niraj Voralia's editing could have been better.

Finally, Aurangzeb is not a bad attempt by the director. You will be tempted by the performances but would just be thwarted by the final outcome.

Aurangzeb Has Poor Opening At Multiplexes

Friday 17th May 2013 11.00 IST

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Aurangzeb had a poor 15-20% opening at multiplexes. The film should open better at single screens due to the action but the opening numbers at multiplexes are low.

As has been seen with a many small-medium films this year a couple of good shows in the evening at multiplexes makes a likely poor total into a decent one.

It will be the same for Aurungzeb where multiplex collections will have to be better in the evening as even though single screens may do better but they won't be high enough to take the film through alone.

The other release I Don't Luv You opened to a dull 0-2% response,

Aurangzeb opens to a poor response all over (15%). In fact, a few exhibitors say that Aashiqui 2 in it's 4th week has better occupancy today

New Delhi: After a satisfactory performance in 'Ishaqzaade', Arjun Kapoor is returning to silver screens with another crime saga 'Aurangzeb'. Directed by Atul Sabharwal, the film also features Sasheh Agha, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Amrita Singh.

'Aurangzeb' revolves around a family which is infamous for their involvement in land scams. The next generation of the controllers of the dreaded real estate business is determined to change the rules of the game. However, it doesn't seem easy as the experienced family heads have their own ways of dealing with misdirected youths.

A lot will depend on 'Aurangzeb' for Arjun Kapoor as expectations are high from him, especially when he was liked in a similar role. Sasheh Agha would also like to do something more than just looking glamorous. It's also a chance for Prithviraj to carve a separate niche for himself in Bollywood. The audience will also see Amrita Singh in action after a long time.
