Good for you for making such a post and sparking such a great discussion on this forum. I completely agree--that scene had made me cringe as well. The thing is--when watching a show like this, it's fun to be delusional--television is an escape and fairy-tale land is fun to be a part of (hopefully, momentarily for most). However, that scene did not just take liberties with the notions of 'ideal love' that some hold, but completely subvert them. It shows a woman telling a man to take her life. Plain and simple--women should not believe that true love means to be willing to give one's self up--as an Indian woman (as I assume lots are), we should take more pride in the worth of our own lives. Selflessness was once the most important expectation of women--but hopefully, we are breaking past that restraint on our identity. Ok, I'll stop now...but all said and done, thanks for the post.

Thank you everyone for such lovely and prompt replies. i'm so happy to know that there are many out there who feel the same.
Having read some of the topics posted since the last episode ,like this was the 'best episode ever', I was beginning to think I was in an alternative universe.
Thanks Again!

if she really loves him....well tht she does...tht means it shouldnt metter if she dies without him or with him.....i mean either way she's gonna die...lolll

Ummm...no this ain't luv...this is sheer craziness...this is ekta's take on love......I mean she shows gauri as a respectful women for others...but then she has no respect for herself...yes we want them together to watch few moments between both because we all think they are cute...but that's besides the point...but the message through this is wrong...b/c lot of people seriously watch this and believe that when they find their "dreamguy" they should give up everything for him too...one thing everyone has to understand is that luv is part of life...it's not life itself...wot about ur parents, ur dreams, goals...do they not mean anythin...don't ekta's women have other responsibilites...i am gauri is totally letting down her father by being this "goody2shoes" wife of shiv....yes shiv is feeling guilty but it's also his fault...he should have never agreed....and luv's not all about compromises...that's not luv....sorrie i am baffled by ekta's take on women....being a women she would have some sort of pride being one but I guess all she cares about is making money even if it is sendin out wrong messages to people out there listenin to her and watchin her shows...shame on you ekta😕

Well now I expect Shiv also to make some sacrifice. He can find out if there is a way that Gauri can still be alive. I'm sure there must be some penance (maybe tough) that will let her live. If there is he should do it and ensure that her love is reciprocated. I disagree that shiv does not love gauri. His love can be felt in his voice. His deep caring is nothing but love although at this point of time he may not be fully aware. He needs to show his love to gauri and ensure her well being. That way they can still redeem the show.

I say before u can love someone else, u should learn to love yourself...poor Gauri thinks about everyone but herself...but in a way, Gauri is thinking about herself, cuz she can't live without Shiv at that moment...so she's going back to Shiv for herself...I guess love makes u do crazy n dangerous thing...

I obviously would not go back to a man who doesn't love me...my life is worth much more than that....I know my worth, but Gauri doesn't realize her worth, thats the problem...Ekta always shows women sacrificing, sacrificing, and sacrificing without getting anything in return...I wonder who her inspiration is, cuz we all know it isn't herself....

anyways, ekta's shows have never been practical, thats for sure...

👏 👏 Well said!! I wasn't quite ecstatic myself about this particular part where Gauri talks about Shiv living a happy life after she passes away. But let me state one fact here: If anyone's ever been in love, whether one-sided or reciprocated, you'll realize that there comes a point when u can do anything for that person u're in love with! I speak from experience (and nope, I ain't no teenager here. Rather, quite far away from that 😉 ).. So I guess what Gauri meant to imply was that her love is so beyond her control that she'd rather live a lifetime with Shiv than an eternity without him. When you really love someone, you want nothing but their happiness. So that's what Gauri was trying to imply here.. At least, that's what I reckon.. However, I do see your point of how women in indian drama serials in general are shown as timid and weak characters. I guess that has become an important component of our so-called culture where women are expected to sacrifice everything in the name of their families or loved ones. That needs to be reformed a.s.a.p but until then, we're stuck with the current dilemma @ hand 😕 ..

Anyhow, I still think that it's merely a fictional serial. Yes, we're attached to it but it is just an escape from reality, which is good to have sometimes. Thanks for the thought-provoking post though 😛.

I said the same in some other posts....I felt really sad after watching todays episode.

I can understand that you love someone but marriage is not about just living near someone whom you love and who deosnt give you anything not even the right of being a wife. Shiv keeps on calling Gauri his friend and is so open that he deosnt love her....fine but you dont even seem to get adjusted to the fact that she is your wife and you better start having a real relationship with her.

I absolutely agree marriage's one part is defintely love but other part is about taking and giving, its about sharing.

i also agree wid u sweety 😊 ,also lets not forget that its a fictional show and ofcourse no1 believes such things nowadays ,its just pure entertainment but u knw pippa when a person is in luv he/she is bound to do such sacrificial things for the person he luvs even if that person doesnt reciprocate ur felings (trust me i am speaking wid experience and i am no teenager) and sumtimes its rly gud to go away from reality which is rly harsh sometimes , ofcourse wat gauri did was wrong and i agree wid all who say that woman r portrayed in a wrong lite , also i have a teenage sister and while she was watching the show she rly didnt care wat was going on , she doesnt even understand how gauri is feeling and all, she just watches it for fun and also becoz me and my dont let her watch nething else!but my point is that i agree wid watever u and others have said but guys iq is leaving in a week so they had to speed up the whole thingy and make gauri go back in a hurry, so just chill and enjoy the show, just take it as entertainment and nothing else!
