I've been reading most of the posts written after yesterday's episode and am suprised to see that most of you were singing praises of it barring the ridiculous crowd scene. The episode was cringe-making and I truly felt, for the first time, very embarassed to be a woman and to be watching this show.
I assume most of you on the forum are women and many of you are teenagers; some pre-teens even. What got me worried was that not one post showed disapproval of the treatment of women and how regressive this serial is becoming.
Many of you approved of the fact that Gauri went back to Shiv for the sake of her love. Which is fine. But what about the rest of the nonsense she was spouting to a man who doesn't even love her? That she wants him to live so that HE can have a long, happy and fufilling life with someone else who'll love him more than she can? This is sheer madness. Doesn't Gauri believe that her kind of love is the utmost?
Seriously, we are women of the 21st century with very modern views about the rights of women. None of us, let's be truthful, will ever compromise our lives in this fashion...apart from it being ridiculous, it's impractical and utterly foolish!
I feel many of you on the forum are rather young and yet to experience life. But let me tell you, real love is nothing like this. It's about give and take. Here, it is not only one sided but the giving comes only from Gauri. So what if Shiv treats her with respect? We still can't get away from the truth. That Gauri has to die if Shiv has to live and be with the one who'll make him a happy man. Yes, it is a selfless love on Gauri's side but what kind of person does it make of shiv who's willing to accept such a scarifice?
Of course, many of you reading this will not agree as you think this is ideal love. And Ekta Kapoor is doing everything in her power to promote very wrong ideas about womenkind that one wonders if she hates being a woman herself!
My intention is not to lecture to you.I'm sorry if it sounds like one. Old habits die hard. But I'm simply venting my frustration at Ekta who'll never change! Well, I suppose Gauri being "semi-literate" (whatever that means) is why she can't think straight and intelligently.
