WU coming up 😊 OMG! Manish quoted my mesg which I sent him the other day!!! He is sooo sweet! Omg omg! I am so excited!! Ok *relax archu!* 😆 now coming to the WU
Anuja: recently NBT mein humne dekhi Munna ki jigree ki bahut hi touching entry aur humaare saath hai Manish pander who plays the character so lets speak to him about it..pehle humein bataayiye ki yeh role aspen kyun accept kiya jab aapko offer kiya Gaya tha?
Manish: All this while, the kind of work I was doing was quite different from this character and what interested me in this character was you know people have been searching for this guy for a long time so the audience has certain expectation of how that character would be..of course it comes across as a shock because that character is actually based in an asylum so these things were pretty interesting then the casting director happens to be a good friend so when she told me that there's such a role that she wants to test me for..I immediately responded..I said sure, bring it on!
Anuja: how do you get into the character?
Manish: for me, I need to understand the kind of madness that this boy was going through so I think it's very important to just understand who this character breathes so there are times when he is throwing things away so for me it was very important to understand why he went mad..and how he really went about his life so taking clues from there, I constructed his image in my pertaining to that particular scene that Mohan has a certain back history and i think mad ppl have a lot of visual sense of who they spent time with and what kind of time it was..for that I saw a few scenes of the younger kid who played the character before and then I got an understanding of what their relationship is and what are the things that he did but he understood in a different way and of course with the passage of time, things keep changing..you start adding your own details..
Anuja: I believe aapka theatre ka bhi experience hai toh kitna Kaam aaya?
Manish: Theatre toh life hai *blushes* woh toh I think zindagi bhar kaam aata rahega..television jahaan pe theatre kaam aata hai..theatre source hai sab cheezon ka chaahe television ho chaahe films ho..waheen se nikali hai cheezein..
Anuja: aapne kaha ki aap jinke saath kaam Kar rahe hain, they are good people..how is it working with Kanwar and now you're gonna work with Kunal so how is it?
Manish: yeah, I haven't really interacted with Kunal yet but Kanwar has been very helpful because u know, u come to a new set and people are shooting..this is season 2 so ppl have been working on this for a long time so ppl are used to working in a certain environment, in a certain way like they are supported by music sometimes to scenes right and I'm not used to it...I'm not used to the medium to get the scenes right here so that ways I've been really helped by people around..the director is very supportive..I think he is one of the most supportive directors I've met however much I've worked in television..besides that, the actors I keep on meeting, they are very helpful..they help me in understanding the space..
Anuja: what has the response been to your character? (HERE COMES MY MESG..WOOHOOO😳..*replays and listens over and over again*)
Manish: well the FB mesgs are not stopping so I've been getting a lot of messages almost everyday now..people are sympathizing with this character and they are able to..last night I got a text from somebody..you know what is peculiar about these people is that they are not friends and family..these are people who I don't even know..these are people who have been watching this series for a long time so they say that the character was going about hitting the wall and Mohan's photograph was there and apparently Mohan is like this big thing in the minds of the audiences but somebody just texted me saying that at no moment, they could hate me even though I was hitting that character because they felt that actions very innocent so it is never right vs wrong..it is always right vs right and I thinks that was like a challenge for me to live up to the right vs right equation.
Anuja: what are your expectations with this character?
Manish: pagalpan ki Jo baat ki jaati hai..I think physical madness is of course one thing we all really relate with so mera sabse bada concern is character Ko Lekar tha ki kahin ek stereotype na ban jaaye ki ek pagal insaan kyunki shuru mein jaise mere kuch doston be dekha..unhone kaha ki theek hai ek pagal insaan ka character hai but there is a life to it..har pagal insaan ek thareeka ka pagalpan nahi karta hai and they have a life of their own so I think what is most important for me is jo space mil raha script ke andar ya phir jis thareeke se mujhe camera pe shoot kiya jaa raha hai, utne samay mein main iss character aur believable kaise bana sakta hoon I think woh mere liye ek challenge hai also kitna life hai ISS character ke pass..not necessarily ki character ek pagal insaan hai toh he can go violent and he goes about throwing books toh script mein aise cheezein likhi hoti hain..funny funny but ek actor ka kaam hai ki ultimately uss character Ko zindagi dena..it's a very simple thing..these writers go about writing the souls but actors then embody those characters..so I think we have to add that life to it.
And then they both thanked each other...:)
This guy is so articulate! Loved this interview so much..Manish is one of my favourite entries this season! What an awesome find by sunshine productions! Class actor! And what a performance in today's episode! He is too good! YOUTUBE link added for those who couldn't view the video :)
