Horror was always a popular genre in Bollywood. The latest film to join the league of horror films is 'Ek Thi Daayan'. Thus we decided to take a look at actors who have shouldered the responsibility of evoking fear in the audience's mind in different eras. This is a still from Vikram Bhatt's 2012 film '1920 Evil Returns'. Tia Bajpai played a possessed woman in the film.
As a director, Raj Khosla was ahead of his times. His 1964 film 'Woh Kaun Thi?' presented Sadhna in such a way that even her die hard fans got confused about her real life persona. Manoj Kumar played the hero opposite her.
Director Rajkumar Kohli's 'Jaani Dushman' (1979) had a crowd of actors but one actor who stood out was Sanjeev kumar. This film is remembered for its melodious songs as well.
Ramsay Brothers' 'Veerana' (1988) featured Hemant Birje and Jasmin in a story which was about a mesmerising witch. This film is considered as one of the pioneer films of horror genre in India.
Vikram Bhatt is one of those filmmakers who have contributed in establishing horror as a popular genre. Malini Sharma was the face of horror in Vikram's 'Raaz' (2002).

2002 film 'Makdee' marked Vishal Bhardwaj's entry into direction. He presented Shabana Azmi in a never seen before role of a witch.
Adah Sharma portrayed the character of a possessed woman in '1920' with such precision that the audience couldn't stop themselves from clapping. Once again the director was Vikram Bhatt.
Sheershak and Shantanu's 2013 film '3G' was also about spirits. Neil Nitin Mukesh tried hard to bring out the evilness of his character.
Who would have thought of seeing Nawazuddin as a scheming devil! The viewers also get scared along with Bipasha in Suparn Verma's 'Aatma' (2013).
The latest to join the list of horror films is Kannan Iyer's 'Ek Thi Daayan' (2013). Konkona Sen Sharma plays a mystery woman in the film.
