Horizon, Beautifully written. I loved how his eyes gave her the command to trust him and that he was going to touch her and fix her ankle. The authority over her was there in his eyes. I can sleep now with a smile on my face!

Episode 109

Did he walks down the stairs or was is glimpse into heaven? There she sits in the center, surrounding her self with dozens of diyas (candles), the gentle flickering from the dozens of diyas gleefully dance on her face. Best of all, she in the color that appeals to him most, red, the color of passions and desires and of love..The first time he saw her in red, he lost a part of himself that he hasn't been able to recover since. This second time her pull is just as magnetic. He is mesmerized the same way and just like that day, his feet move towards her as if hypnotized.

The wind blows while she lights another candle, she feels his presence and looks up to his admiring eyes. She stands up. A slights smile appears on his face as his heart fills with her beauty.

Even La's entrance wasn't enough to divert his attention off of Khushi, till she talks "what did you do? you've surrounded yourself between candles" she tries to get out, but has a tough time. La asks ASR to give her a hand, well he wouldn't say no to that!
He slowly makes his way into the circle, taking a closer look, he gulps down his attraction. By reaching her, symbolically he has completely made it into her heart, maybe at this moment she knows it's not acidity, or black magic, it's something else, its pyaar.

Indeed Ami. Great comment👏...She seemed to have realized what exactly it was!

She has come a long way in understanding this Rakshas, she knows he's anything but. Today she willing to hold his hand and follow his lead. She will be ready to confess her feelings by that poolside later. He continues to walk her out, still mesmerized by her beauty, he can't take his eyes off of her.

Not used to high heels, she would trip and he would catch her...hamesha.

The way her hand fits into his, he's loving it, even looks at her to see how she feels. The beautiful journey comes to an end, but their hands linger in each others.

Actually things have felt just right with each other for some time, just like the red saari...another loud and clear message sent by DM. As soon as Khushi had opened the box, he had immediately fell in love "kitni sundar hai!"...like any girl would do, she walks to the mirror and drapes it across her shoulder with a big smile on her face. It was just a new sari and but i felt her smiling a bit wider.

It wasn't the saari Anjali had intended on giving her, but the it seemed to have chosen Khushi. Its customary that the in-laws would gift the daughter in-laws a new saari for Diwali, but what made Anjali decide to give Khushi one, the girl who she hired to train La? does the fact that it is from Anjaliji, Arnavji's sister, have her grinning from side to side? there was something special about this saari in the auspicious red.
When Khushi learns that the it was accidentally switched, she feels terrible,
"maaf kijiye Lavanya ji woh...hame pata nahi tha"
"i'm sorry Lavanya ji, i didn't know"

Beautiful the way CVs show how Khushi never intended to steal the red Sari, it was planned by some unknown forces...just like the man they both have in common, La's response is also telling of the future "Don't be so silly! it looks great on you" as that will be her reaction when she finally sees where Arnav's heart, also red, truly lies.

In this little journey of theirs was so much promise, everything was the way it was meant to be, everything was right, felt right.

For Khushi, within the last few days in the midst of her confusion, the sense of belonging with him never left. Taking care of him when he fainted, stopping his from leaving on a hungry stomach without a car in Nainital, running to his strong shoulders when life became too much to handle. "Arnavji" just like she pulled out of the oil when she stress made jilebi again, all of her being giving her sign, she felt close to him, somewhere he became special, special enough to sweetly wrap his sugar-free sukha halwa that she specially made for him. And when Payal asks "What's this?" she almost gives herself away "yeh Arnav ji ke ...unhe meetha mana hai na" she quickly changes her tone from caring to passive. Even when she handed the meethai to OP after reaching the RM, she makes sure to stress ""yeh dabba Arnavji ke liye, isme bina shakkar ki mittai"...i have a feeling she put some extra love and care into making that sugar-fre halwa.
Arnav also continues to stay lost in her essence, under her "jaadu tona" (spell). He has ebraced these feeling with open arms undlike the frustrated ones he used to have. He has completely let his guard down and now that he's has a strong sense of Khushi's "ulaj (tanglement)" the meaning behind that lone tear when he hugged La is clear allows him perhaps to go even more deeper. Not to mention he can also hear her "dhak dhaks."

Their oneness is surfacing within both of them, a sense of belonging to each other. The proof is in the diya(candle) that she made for his home, which he allowed her to use clay from this beloved garden ... 'whats mine is yours" right?...and when one of the diyas accidentally slips from La, he catches it, remembering that Khush made it he softly grazes over it with his thumb demonstrating once again his desire to feel her and to breathe her in.

They came a long way in just a few days, by the time this Diwali arrived, both have brought light in each other in the truest sense. Both seem to be on the same page now, longing and wanting only eachother. But then again its never easy with these two, A crossroads is upon them. With the help of a lost and found payal some jaadu (magic) and nasha (high) let us do a walk backwards till the crossroad arrives... in between some madhoshiyan as well

Ami, I can't tell you what this stretch of episodes do to me. They were handled with so much care inside and out... like a precious possession... each and every step/ gaze/word Arshi shared was heavenly! Can't get over them even after n number of watches... gives the same goosebumps it gave some 18 months ago! This scene is one such.. I still remember how I felt when I watched this SBS... I have NEVER seen such a beautiful arrangement of Diwali diyas even on celluloid. Agree with the other discussion of Wiwy and Durga. for me also it felt like saat pheras... never really counted how many steps they took... was always too lost in that moment!

Loved how your write up flowed here... wanted to highlight each and every line.. as all were equally poignant. Thanks much for the wonderfulread.

first to india, pick up the boy and wiwy and durga and straight to singapore.

your friend wants to go back to india. i am delighted she had a good time in my land. some people don't. enough awful things and plenty gorgeous things there. a complexity that i can't quite ever not want, no matter how corrupt our politicians and how regressive some of our views on women, and i feel super strongly about the second one. there's a feel to this land that i don't find anywhere. sometimes i can almost touch the layers of history just looking out on to the country side from a car... an ancient piece of geography where just about everything happened and left indelible prints.

laugh your head off at me if you like... but somewhere i feel this layering in barun and sanaya too. if you look at tehir separate cultures and the history of those in india, somewhere they are products of that too, and it brings a specific unique energy to them as people, as actors. he is so cute punjabi munda, with all the paronthe sharonthe go get gung ho of the punjabi (possibly his family part of the refugee punjabis who left pakistan and came to india during partition, and boy with that drive of theirs they just changed the story of delhi, an extraordinary mind set and love of life) and a belief in tradition and how to protect and respect women with a definite touch of pariarchy.

she so parsi girl, once foreigners to india, but made every effort possible to be part of people, and became so delightfully. an idealistic people with a lot of fabulous work to their credit, first steel plant in india, first five star hotel, first college of science/engineering, first airlines, er i may have my facts a bit garbled, but incredible contribution from a small community, plus the marvelloous quirky streak... no wonder sanaya could be so truly mad jhalli 😆.

come to india, cynthia, wiwy will tell you about us bongs, she the sweet punj (?) girl who thinks tagore in bengali.

wiwy, that endless love in bangla... wo.

and maybe you'll see the taj and like it too.

we really should meet, definitely once 398 is upon us.

BD, Indi, @Red: Hmm.. so you both liked her asking!! I some how couldn't take it! I thought, it may have sit with her character ...but unfortunately it looked rather unfeminine to me!! Which girl on planet earth would ask a guy why he wanted to kiss her? Wasn't that self explanatory? Ofcourse she was trying to make him confess and clear all her doubts and dhaks/ dhaks. If he DID confess that moment, was she ready to face La?? It was rather surprising that a girl, who wouldn't share her hassles at work with her parents to save them stress, and whose instant thoughts of a two timing man immediately after she knows of his truth was to save him (from a heading lorry).. didn't save any thought for La. Every time I hear those words.. "aur woh.. joh abhi kuch der pehle hua tha".. I cringe wishing she didn't say that!

@Blue: absolutely agree.

On a lighter note, thats why we are re conducting these studies even after submitting our theses!😆

since yesterday what to write for 111, should i write at all. will anything do justice. horizon, ^^^ i am with you in that marveling at the level of detail in these episodes. so much craft and such care. every frame, every edit, every expression, the whole thing in such wonderful flow, conveying layer upon layer of meaning. each viewing something stands out as your body registers it first, some part goes warm, breath catches a bit. you say huh and rewind and again it happens. last two viewings the word satyr in my head. that ear defined right beside an eye riveted, blue tinged with red, dark dark hair and a complete sensuality without a single mental/rational note in it.

and then again, the man turning back, the beginning of the conscious letting go of thought maybe, just feeling, just instinct, what made him turn back, did that little turning away of hers make him want to savour a chase, and conquer, or was it just her long gaze on him as he put on that payal, that inflamed his body with its intimate lingering over him. that long time stilling look at her, says you're beautiful, are you real, i just want you, draws her to him with his eyes, a bit of tenderness there though, as though he knows she's untouched precious and he is just helpless before her. who is the conqueror really and who the conquest.

i could go on. how she writhes in anticipation, the good girl forgetting everything, just wanting those lips she's looked at many times before to do what she fears they might, wants that they will.

this was the first time though that i did feel, there was no need for that song, jadoo hai nasha hai. just the soundtrack that was on with hints of wind and silences pregnant with rampant desire would have been enough. i watched with audio mute, and again felt the draw, my ears beginning to flame, breath erratic.

if you think about it a whole range of cliches: two gorgeous young people, a woman in red, night, pool side, attraction, opposites... oh it's all been done before... but never ever quite like this. fascinating understanding of a moment in an episode that was all about "nahin understand."

this scene does deserve an award of some sort. a recognition.

ok, now we argue and get all dissertation-ish or whatever it is that phd seekers do.

i thought that would be exactly the kind of questions she would ask. a straight forward girl.. a very troubled girl with all these crazy thoughts going through her... a girl who is completely rattled by a man's intense attention... she is not supposed to want this but yet she does... she is not supposed to fling herself on him when she needs a place of safety of everything is ok, yet she does... she can't stop thinking about him... he is in her work place, her thoughts, everywhere... she has been asked to marry another but she sees this man as her husband...

in short, our jhalli is in super turmoil.

then he seeks her out. and that fall of hers diverts everything to a sensuous physical thing over the fixing of an ankle... even thinking about it, breathing laboured, she goes through it... a thousand thoughts in her head... and then his turning back, and the interlude both seemed to just want no matter what. or who.

that is what the scene had in it i felt. everything and everyone else stopped for both. no one thought of lavanya... not asr... not khsuhi.

a more powerful feeling asserted itself, for it was just that, more potent than what either felt for la. what either felt for or about anything.

at a rational level of course khushi would always know it's not right, but this was way beyond all things rational.

and because it was so bizarre, she had to find out... at this moment she was just a girl lost in an utterly confusing situation, she needed to find answers. precisely because she was not planning and scheming this, she needed clarity. thinking once the answers were there, everything would become easier to handle. her mind was not telling her all the what if scenarios, it just wanted calm, desperately.

khushi in trouble always talks non stop... quiet is not her way. she started to talk, question upon question.

and the more she asked, the more scared he got. appalled at his lack of control, every question stoked his feeling of this can't be happening to me.

two people really desperate in the situation they find themselves in.

pity, la had to bear the brunt of it.
