Abhi and Gauri get into a fight since Abhi had failed to get a ring for Gauri, as per his promise. Gauri is upset and she pushes Abhi who falls to the ground. Gauri then goes back inside the house. Meera extends her hand to help ABhi get up. Once up, Abhi tells her that Gauri was like a kid and that they have always shared this type of relationship. Gauri smiles and tells him that he doesn't have to say all this because she has not asked him anything. And anyway, he was at fault since he had promised to buy her a ring. Meera then takes off her ring and hands it over to Abhi asking him to give it to Gauri. She is about to leave when Abhi stops her and tells her that he wants to tell something to her. But he fails to do so. Then Abhi tells Meera that he will write what he wants to say to Meera in the form of a poem and give it to her. When Meera doesn't say anything, Abhi tells her that Shan Uncle is not the only one who can write poetries. Meera then tells him that she will read whatever he writes for her. Meera then rushes back to her room.
Once inside, she brings out of the stack of poetries that Shantanu had dedicated to Alaka and which Meera had hidden beneath her pillow. As she reads some of these poetries, she feels a strange feeling inside her and thinks that maybe her Mother also felt the same when Shan Uncle had uttered those poetries for her.
At that moment, a teary-eyed Alaka enters her room and scolds her for trying to dig into her Mother's past which does not have any significance now. She accuses Meera of breaking her promise, to which Meera replies that she didn't break her promise, it broke automatically. Alaka then tells Meera that she should stop trying to unfurl the entire truth. And when Meera questions her that why Alaka is seeing no future especially when Shan Uncle had returned for her to the house, Alaka tells her that she will not be responsible for anybody else's answer but knows that her dark past should stay buried forever. Meera decides to get the truth out of Shantanu's mouth.
She goes and asks Shantanu straight as to why he had deserted his Mother, was her Mother that bad? Shantanu replies that there was nothing wrong with Alaka, its just that they had to deal with their present at that time which destroyed their future. He had fallen in love with Alaka and Alaka was already known in the Bharadwaj family. Both his Father and Mother loved Alaka but were not conscious about their affair. One day, Shan had taken Alaka to their house to meet his Father and to talk about their marriage. They are very happy but when they finally reached the House, Shan's Father was in his death-bed. His last death wish to Alaka was to get her acknowledgement to be Kumar's wife. Both Shan and Alaka were shocked but they gave in to the dead Father's request. After some time, Alaka got married to Kumar and Shan got married to Malvika. It was only later that Shan came to know about the existence of Vasundhara in Kumar's life. He tried to fight this wrong but when things failed, he simply left the House.
Meera is nearly in tears but she is still waiting for Shantanu's answer as to why he returned to the house, but Shan leaves without giving any answer. Meera finds Alaka sitting on the Ghats of Benaras burning all the poetries that Shan had written. When Meera asks her why she was bruning those pages, Alaka tells her that she is trying to wipe away her past. She then gets up and walks away. Meera follows her Mother and thinks that her Mother is wrong, she is actually running away from herself.
