Well from a psychological perspective (and I'm a bad psychologist, so of course take my words at face value 😉 I believe everyone has a violent side to them, the 'moral' people just don't take it that far in practice. This is why crime films and sexually explicit films have a demand. People like to see their suppressed desires onscreen.
And in any case, it's interesting to see some other perspective on crime than see them as purely devils. Cinema is an art form, and its purpose is to show us a perspective -- now whether I agree with the perspective or not is different. I can differentiate the aesthetics from the ethics.
