SHYLA'S GIFT
Naren looked towards Adi, No you cannot, he said his grin flashing.
Cannot what, Adi asked innocently,
keep her with you tonight, and for that matter any night for next 6 months, naren replied with a big grin.
I cannot? His arm held La closer, looking teasingly at her upturned face, making her flush red.
Guys.. Ridhi scolded. Stop teasing her. Come on sweat heart, she linked her hand through Shyla and pulled her ahead.
I am going to change and then we are going to drop of Shyla at her place, she said firmly.
The boys groaned. They would have loved a little more loving, instead they dug into some more food, had some chocolates, talked to the remaining guests and stood looking at the dark ocean.
6 months is going to be a long wait Adi, Naren teased. Hands deep in his pocket, Adi nodded. Wish I could take her back right now he murmured.
The two friends slowly walked the length of the beach. The Girls were waiting as they reached Adi's place.
Shyla's house was still buzzing with activity. Bedsheets had been spread on the verandah and pillows lined up for the many guests who had decided to stay back. Vishak and Tarun were busy munching on sweets and chocolates.
Mami '..Di and Bhaiyya are here they called out on sighting them.
Mala hurriedly brought out the Aarti plate.
More snacks were served out, the night was still young and the celebration continued.
A round of antakshari started off. With everyone joining in irrespective of whether they could sing or not.
It was way past midnight, when Mala called for a halt. Ridhi, can you please help Shylu with her saree.
Tarun and Vishak stop eating and off you go to the Veranda.
Di, tomorrow morning, I want you to meet someone special Shyla said as Ridhi helped her to change her heavy saree. Really early she grinned.
Meet? Ridhi wondered.
Shyla sank on the bed with a big sigh of relief, glad to be back into her comfortable Salwar.
There was a knock before the guys walked in. You girls are so slow they complained. Adi got shooed away as he tried to sink in beside Shyla.
He muttered something before moving . We better get back, Shyla wants us to meet someone special early tomorrow.
You want us to get up early after all this excitement? Naren glared at Shyla.
She grinned. Be prepared to get soaked she giggled.
Ridhi was already dragging Naren, Adi lingered, winking at her.
You better be quick she warned in a whisper, before She and Naren left the room.
The House had gone quiet, only Mala was up finishing up some chores in the kitchen.
Adi ran his finger under her chin, lifting her face, Sleep tight princess. He lips ever so lightly touched hers.
He bent and caught her in a hug. Love you he whispered against her neck, she hugged him back, burying her face against his chest.
He held her for a minute longer, not wanting to let go, kissing her firmly on her cheeks, he pulled the sheets up to her chin.
Tomorrow before 6 she called after him. He blew a kiss, Of course baby.
Way before the sun was up, they were already speeding deep into the sea.
Naren was fast asleep, Ridhi looked sleepy, but the dark waters, glimmering with the reflection of the stars was mesmerizing her.
Shyla stood next to Adi, tucked nicely against his side.
Planning to swim La? Adi was maneuvering the Boat, he had become quite adept at it.
Hmmm.. don't know, if they want me too.
She slipped her hand around his waist, surprising him. He knew they were going to the Dolphins, but he felt they were going to see something special.
They came to a halt, the ocean was silent, except for the soft sound of the waves.
Naren Bhaiyya she called, Ridhi was already beside her.
Three pairs of eyes looked at her as she started a slow whistling and clicking with her tongue, the waves seemed to carry it far into the sea.
In the silence it seemed loud and clear.
She stopped, as if waiting. Her finger pointed to a spot near the boat.
She whistled once more and in cue, breaking through the water, two absolutely beautiful dolphins bobbed up, so close that the boat rocked as they bumped into it.
Ridhi squealed in delight.
The dolphins seemed to be smiling, as they moved their head in unison.
Naren and Adi simply watched, the sight was too lovely.
They seem to understand her perfectly. She leaned down and they playfully hit her with their snouts.
Naren Ridhi, Adi touch, the Dolphins clicked and whistled and allowed themselves to be petted,
They opened their mouth and shyla patted their tongues, Ridhi, Naren and Adi followed a little tentatively, but were soon caught up with their playfulness,and then suddenly they disappeared beneath the water, and even as they watched, they were back spraying them with sea water through their snouts, soaking them, a couple of more dolphins joined in, they rocked, jumped, and danced and put on quite a show for over half an hour, after which they disappeared.

Hope you liked my surprise she asked, her voice a little anxious,
In answer she got smothered in a huge hug from all the three of them.
