Alaka is sitting in her room with a makeup box in her hand. At that moment, Meera enters the room, Alaka shoves the box away to one side of her bed. Meera asks Alaka why had she shifted to a different room when the entire house is absorbed in the celebrations. Alaka tells Meera that she has shifted out of her room of her own accord and left it for Panditji to use. Alaka refuses to go down to the marriage ceremony saying that she had nothing to do over there and in fact, she would have to recite the daily quota from the Gita.
The marriage ceremony is being held. Abhi tries to click Meera's photo under different circumstances but fails to do so. Both these kids flirt big time while the song 'Ankhon Ki Gustakhiyan' from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam plays in the background. At last frustrated Abhi follows Meera to a place where all girls are standing and talking and again tries to click her photo, but Meera turns Gauri around and hides behind her, so that Abhi ends up clicking Gauri's photo. The battery of Abhi's camera also gives way and Meera is relieved. She also remarks to Gauri that she was looking very beautiful in the traditional ghagra. Gauri replies that a beautiful person will always look beautiful and that she had worn the ghagra due to Abhi's request. At that moment, a lady comes along and calls them all for the vidaai ceremony.
Meera remembers something and hurries to Alaka's room. Not finding Alaka there, she opens a wooden chest and takes out the box that Alaka was gazing at previously. She takes the box downward with the intention of gifting it to Sonu, as promised by Alaka long back. The box is Alaka's Solhah Singaarr box. Meera goes downstairs where the vidaai ceremony is taking place and everybody is crying. She approaches Sonu and hands over the box to her to which Sonu asks her to thank Alaka Chachi for the same. Ira is stunned and she goes to Panditji and says to him that the gift of a widow to a newly married girl is inauspicious.
Meera is escorting Sonu towards her in-laws when she notices that the main chandelier has become loose and was swaying violently. She pushes Sonu away from the spot, when the chandelier crashes to the ground. Everybody is worried and angry. Ira goes upstairs and drags Alaka from her room to the main hall, where everybody is assembled, and asks Alaka as to why she is doing all these to the family? Alaka is stunned and fails to respond at all. Ira continues with her tirade for quite some time about Alaka being the major source of all mis-happenings in the Bharadwaj House.
After a while, Shantanu loses his cool and reprimands Ira for lambasting Alaka for no fault of hers. He states that Alaka's main fault is the white saree that she has to wear due to the departure of her husband. He questions Panditji that is being a widow and losing one's life-partner was Alaka's main reason not to participate in the events, then he should also have been meted out the same fate, since he has also lost his wife recently. Shnatanu tells them a lot about how the world has changed buyt hoow things are the same inside the Bharadwaj House. Ammaji stops him and tells that one's culture and tradition is there to help one to take decisions regarding emergencies and doesn't allow one to sway from one's path.
Shantanu tells her that the whole world has changed outside the Bharadwaj House and that the lack of change inside the House actually stops him from living in the proper sense of the time. He gives an ultimatum to Ammaji to choose between himself and the old archaic laws of society. Ammaji doesn't answer him and Shantanu decides to leave the House. After he goes away, Ira tells Alaka that it is due to her that Shantanu is again leaving the House. Meera asks Ira why she always blames Alaka for everything that happens in their house. Ammaji stops her from making any more nuisance and she runs inside the House. Alaka also goes inside the house.
Ammaji asks Yash to complete the Vidaai Ceremony. Sonu's mother-in-law asks Ammaji to bless Sonu properly so that she doesn't end up carrying her bad luck to her own house now.
Shantanu is standing in front of Kumar's photo in the corridor. ALaka comes and stands beside him. The two of them doesn't say anything, only look at each other, their eyes brimming with tears, and unhappiness. A short while later, Alaka goes away to her room, Shantanu stands there with a pained expression in her face.
