But they can't make Indra abdicate after Vritra's death, given the current story. Because there will be no valid reason for the abdication and there is Jal. No where will Indra give up fighting Jal, HOWEVER useless may he be.

Well they might wait until Jalandhar's death then. But they definitely will do the Nahusha track sometime soon.

After killing Vritrasura, Indra won't be able to be on Swarga's Singhasana. Due to the sin of Brhma-hatya, Nahusha will surely be approached to be Devraj. He was a sinner of killing Trishira, Vritra was no good himself so killing him was not a crime. It is mentioned in DP, though rishi dadhichi gave up his life willingly, touching his bones ie. Vajra, made Indra a sinner of Brhma-hatya. He did Rajasuya yagya but that coudn't wipe out his sin compeletely.

So indra acts like a asur...get punished several times. but still havent learned his lesson..i really wonder how many times must god forgive him for all his sins..Wasnt it better to have another worthy Dev in heaven.

Indra always misused his powers.. ive heard krishna punished him ..that nobody will ever worship him..because he always misused his powers. (dunno if its true)

-He thinks he had the right to kill anyone..when his position is dan danger

-Not to mention rape

-Apsarah dancing at his tunes...forgodsake...what example did he give to the human race!!

if the post of Indra is a title.. as told in DKDM.. then the Tridevs have full authority to appoint a new Indra... they can easily call in an Universal Conclave for the Appointment of King of Gods and get rid of the present Indra..
