Asuras get boon from Devas, to become immortal, then, trouble others. But great soul like rishi Dadhichi offered to give his life for a good cause. He believed giving up his life for betterment of others is a life worth lived. He is willing to give his life & Indra is eager to have his Vajra. back, made of his bones.

What is the difference between an Asura & Indra, who rarely displays a good Deva like qualitiy?

Nice post!

Indra's deeds are indeed shameful. Surely he must have done SOMETHING good at some point - I hope we will get to see some of these, too (not to redeem him, because that isn't possible - just so we see both sides).

With Indra's insecure behaviour and Jalandhar's current righteousness (wanting equality etc), I was reminded of something I once heard someone say in another mythological show.

It was about how we are really defined by our deeds and thoughts and the way we live our lives, rather than the family/society we are born into (which I agree with completely) - one of the characters was giving an example of this by saying (something like) "asuro mein devta hain Prahlad, aur devtao mein asur hain Indra" (Prahlad was akin to a devta even though he was born in an asur family, and Indra was akin to an asur even though he was born a devta). I can't remember the exact dialogue but I really liked that bit and I hope someone will say something similar in DKDM at some stage! Now would be a really good time, with Jalandhar not being evil yet.

So realistically based on deeds rather than birth, and if the term asur is used to mean a bad person/being then Indra is actually an asur!

I really feel awkward why the Hell he was assigned as Devraj. It is said that he had controlled all the indriyas but Is selfishness , insecurity was not a part of indriyas. I am really astonished of this.

He was such a cruel. man.. huaah... ..

idoubt if indra is really a devta or something...i think he has some mixed genes of asur and devta...he truely signifies the word shameless...i'm totally speechless at indra's shamelessness...god knows which quality of indra made him the king of gods ..😡

Seriously there is no difference..!!

At least..Asurs were punished..even killed by Tridevs for their misdeeds..when they crossed their limits..but Indra..??

But how can devtas die when Vritsasur attacks them because they have had Amrit and all immortal. Did not get that part today.

Exactly. I was thinking the same. Though rishi Dadhichi's explanation that "amar aur adamya jaise shabd is nashvar sansaar mein hain hi nahi" cleared it a little bit.

Agree with the others. I wonder why Vishnu or Mahadev or Brahma don't kick him out of Svarga and install someone else - BTW, will Nahush not succeed Indra's throne- coz that can be the only reason for bringing Sachi to the show.

WEll, at least we can have Dadhichi's darshan till MOnday... BUt why couldn't Mahadev resurrect him? WHy?😭

Truly, if Purandar were an asura he would have been killed long ago. 🤓

Pretty sure they are building up to the Nahusha track. Indra will have to abdicate after he kills Vritra.

As for Dadhichi, remember that he got moksha.

i agree..Indra makes the most lowly politician look good..i wonder HOW he controlled the Indriyas when his insecurity and jealousy clouds over his judgement each and every moment..he is an absolute blot on the term "daivya"..

In Purandar's case it seems the indriyas control Indra rather than the other way around.
