1) I am a Madhu fan first and foremost. Please read my previous posts for backup of this assertion.
2) What we say in reel life is very different from what we tolerate in real life- whatever I am saying is in the context of the serial itself, and does not apply to my views of real life. Please keep that in mind before accusing me of being sympathetic to abusers.
3) I am going to try to write this post with the greatest of respect to each fanbase. Do me the courtesy of replying similarly- no bashing of characters, actors, or fan bases.
So, onward! I will try to delve into the good, bad and ugly, so please forgive me if I offend.
Since the Sultan track started and we've gotten to know more about this man, there has been an upswing of support for Sultan and Madhu. I can see why. RK has hurt, humiliated, and shattered Madhu, with no remorse per say, and no realization. So I can see where the Madhu/Sultan fanbase is coming from- there point of view is valid.
However, I want to go over the Rishbala and Sulbala relationship and show why Rishbala is going to be endgame.
Rishbala: RK has been accused for being an abuser. Let's see how much he fits into this:
Emotional Abuse: a form of abuse characterized by a person subjecting or exposing another to behavior that may result in psychological trauma, including anxiety, chronic depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder. Effects: emotional abuse has long term debilitating effects on a person's sense of self and integrity
What has RK done that can be constructed as emotionally abusive? He has called Madhu names, has denigrated her family, has cast aspersions on her as a woman and as a wife. He did this pre their marriage, during the early stages of their marriage, and post marriage breakup. Note that unlike most emotional abuse, this was not consistent- he had a break and then resumed post revenge scenario. What is unique about this situation is that Madhu always fights back. She has setbacks, but she bounces back and for the most part, she gives as good as she gets. Madhu does not allow RK to hold her down. His insanity feeds into hers. It is a toxic cycle, but in terms of emotional strength she trumps him. So yes, there is emotional abuse in this relationship, but don't insult Madhu by casting her as the victim. She fights back, consistently, and has never allowed RK to lower her sense of worth as a person.
Physical Abuse: RK has manhandled Madhu on various occasions, but as this is a trope consist with the industry I'm not going to bash him for it. He has never slapped her and with the exception of one time when he held her very tightly, has never truly hurt her physically.
So painting RK as a abuser is somewhat true, but not wholly. And painting Madhu as his victim is not true at all. What happens between Rishbala is a power play, and always has been. Madhu too gets her hands dirty- she used the pictures of RK and his dad and really hurt him. The difference is Madhu repents, and RK has not done so yet. But the CV's have established that Rishbala are both a little on the crazy side (RK with his antics, Madhu with hers), especially for each other.
Sulbala: My biggest problem with this pairing is very simple. Sultan is a gangster! He breaks the law regularly, is involved in a trade that at the least has extortion, murder, kidnapping, arms smuggling etc involved. So what if he does not peddle drugs? He killed people in cold blood! Is that somehow better than being a drug dealer? In the context of the show, Ballu has killed people (I think) and so has Sultan. He does not peddle drugs because he has a son- who, lets not forget, he is training to be an emotionless automaton. Because Sultan knows the nature of the world he is in. He and his family are in constant danger- actually physical, we can die danger.
I don't care if he's kind, supportive, and a balm to Madhu's wounds. I like Aryan, but frankly again, I do not care that the kid brings to mind a box full of soaking wet kittens. Because if Madhu gets together with Sultan, she will be in danger all the time. There will always be another Bhujang. There will always be the threat of police finding and jailing the guy. She will outside the law, outside society's "protection". Madhu with Sultan will be 20 times more vulnerable than Madhu without Sultan because Madhu with Sultan will have no recourse but Sultan! A man who, what 5 days after he moved to India lost control of his empire to one of his underlings. It does not fill me with confidence for her fate. No amount of emotional support can make up for the actual physical, constant danger she will be in. No cute kid will make up for that. Furthermore, Madhu can basham Sultan about Aryan- but come on- if she got together with him, how much could she fight him? WHen he held her life in his hands everyday?
I know people want Madhu to ditch RK. Believe me, I sympathize. But lets be honest here. Madhu has flaws as well and at this juncture, loving insanely is one of them. She loves him. He has hurt her deeply, but she loves him. Should she go back to him? Not unless he respects her as a human being who has the agency to make her own choices. Will that actually happen in the show? No because then the show would be over. Probably Sultan will ask Madhu to take care of Aryan, and RK will offer his services in order to get Madhu to come back. To cover up Aryan's involvement, Madhu will say she is giving him a second chance. The road to RK recognizing Madhu as a person, then his feelings, will be a long one. But don't think Madhu will go running to Sultan because she recognizes that she should be away from RK. If Madhu made logical decisions, she would never have gone back to Aryan. The same desperation she loves Aryan with, she loves RK with. With no boundaries, and with no thought to others. So why would she fall for Sultan?
As a Madhu lover, I want her to get away from both these men. As a viewer of this show, I know this is not going to happen.
So I support the pairing in which Mahdu can fight back, in relatively equal footing.
Opinions?
