LOL...I think the chemistry is in the CLICHES...I find the Sultan-Madhu angle very CLICHED and done to death on TV...another reason it's probably finding takers...I think Sultan's portrayal of the "Angsty/brooding" hero is also VERY cliched...

I never watched Avinesh's previous show, nor Vivian's cuz I didn't think much of either of them😆😆

I've only grown to like Vivian through RK.

@apolloartemis

One thing i loved about the post was your take on the "physical abuse". In real life, absolute no. But in tv i think we all know by now, brooding hero=manhandling heroine. Pick up any serial which follows this storyline, ipkknd, geet, qh, kth etc etc, its accepted that to show passion there must be two things-rough handlong of heroine AND flowing dupataas

I have never warmed up to the gangster trope. Even in the now cult LTL, i just dont like the iidea of perfectly sensible girls falling for the gangster and reforming him with the power of lurve. Ask monica bedi on what happens to girls who get involved with underworld.

90% of those are Gul Khan shows😆😆...and yes that is the generic idea of "passion" on TV...I frankly don't buy it...I think this show has still taken a different route...RK is not your typical "I'll show my "passion" for you by manhandling you/slapping you" kinda hero...he's more the MIND GAMES type...and I frankly would prefer watching that in fiction than typical physical manhandling.

Tiyali, you broke my heart. As soon as i saw your name, i rubbed my hands in glee and thought here comes one funny, snarky take on this gangster nonsense that is going on. But you jumped ship. Nahinnn...

I dont of the cvs have thought it all out but honestly i dont expect rk to repent... Yet. I think his arrogance is enough to convince him that HE needs to agree to give this relationship another go. Madhu's consent is a foregone conclusion. Only when he realises that he actually may lose her for good, then the self loathing will come.

NAHIII😆😆

Honestly speaking, the reason why Sultan-Madhu appeal to me so much is that I am sucker for the Angry man type of men and I never properly watched the show prior to Sultan's entry. I remember only some of the plot points and so that might color my judgement quite a bit.

Also, I am not a fan of Revenge King nautanki, I see all the time.

Amen!

Now that i opened my shikayaton ka piataara, let me add, they need to give madhu some flaws. She is too mary sue. Everything she does is right. Though not as irritating as anandi, who gets entire functions organised every month so we the viwers can be told why anandi (a fictional character) is the best invention after the wheel. I digress. But mb and rk in love were boring, bec madhu is boring. She reminds of my 5 year old self when i played ghar ghar with my dolls. But when these two do their khit-pit then they set the screen on fire. They need to humble mb a couple of times. And that why i loved rk, bec whenever she behaved like a typical tv wife (khana, button, bhagwaan) he called her out.

Guilty as charged on all accounts except the physical stuff. Cant and couldnt take it. And I dont agree on the mind games part. What he did to Madhu borders on emotional abuse. But what drew me into MB and thats unique to RK is his wittiness and wry sense of humor.

LMFAO🤣...but what is desi TV without that ONE leading PERFECT bahu?😆😆

haha@ the ghar ghar analogy...word...yeah Madhu playing house in her hyper happy mode I wasn't much of a fan of either...and yes, the show is at it's BEST when these two CLASH...I'm totally hooked then...and yes RK was the saving grace even in typical romantic scenes cuz his dialogues were typical RK...

I don't think they're gonna change Madhu though...if they had the guts, they'd have started the heroine track instead of thoosoing Sultan into the show...this was the IDEAL time to show a Madhu blossoming into a successful heroine and giving it back to RK on his own turf...but they choose to project her as the perfect goody goody bechari instead...guess we have to live with it.

Chalo we can agree on what's unique to RK...lol...yes I feel that is what MAKES the show...and keeps me watching despite other not so interesting characters😆

Not giving RK a clean chit by any accounts...yes he has been emotionally abusive...but unlike most "dark" heroes on TV, they've given RK a backstory, a BASIS for his characterization which makes him credible even as he pushes the boundaries of grey/black...they keep him interesting enough for the audience to keep guessing which way he'll go now...you can't full figure him out...HE himself can't fully figure himself out...lol...

Most so called "anti-heroes" on TV aren't given any basis...businessmen suddenly become dancing superstars manhandling their heroines in the name of lurve😆😆

RK is an ACTOR...who THRIVES in his world of make-believe...in the DRAMA he loves to generate😆

@All- thanks all for these rousing discussions- let's continue on!
@Shri and @AreYaar,
You know for a while I watched MEIEJ with the sole thought- its entertainment, they are pretty, YAY!!
but the more I get invested in a show, the more I get on my morality high horse. No idea why. I try to stop but...eh!
I think I'm going to try to see it from a drama point of view again- just so hard to get into that mindset when you've gotten out of it though😆
I think people's reactions are very interesting though- you can really tell the idealists from the realists in my opinion.

Never thought I would write a post defending RK though...if Shri reads this she'll just start laughing😆

Just reading this now.

I was the first one to see your post, saw it at only 3 views. And I started responding. Angeena was faster in posting her response as I was still typing mine.

Later, when I was coming to EDT to post your link, I saw that u already mentioned it...and then I saw the pm.

How come you are not saying..."Oh Shri !!, you replied !!...vagerah vagerah "...You responded to everyone else other than me. Bhai, aise kaunse keede ne mujhe kaata that you are nervous of catching the virus...Oh!!! Now I get it. U need to be Madhu Bugged and you think by expressing your elation at my posts, you may feel RK bugged and you don't want that. Theekh hai Theekh hai. Koi baat nahin.

Btw...I am out of EDT for so long and residing in your house as a guest is that I am so upset with that EDT. Socha...zara baahar tahal ke aa jaaon.

ETA: Just read your last post. You did respond to my posts.
