How much can the story vary from the real story

Just wondering about this serial that I just started watching.
The serial plot is quite nice now, though a bit dragging.
I had stopped watching serials a couple of years back and this is the first one I am seeing after a long time.I had really gotten tired of the serials where the story line gets dragged and has all weird happenings , finally leading to an unexpected ending wasting all the viewers time.😡

The review of this serial says that it is based on the true Gujarati novel which is completely a poignant story,where the girl marries another bad guy and later on becomes a widow ;also saras and kumud never unite in life in spite of meeting each other many times under various circumstances.

If the serial is declared to be based on the true story , it cannot deviate much from the real story line
for sure ,in spite of the smaller twists that may get added to it which indicates that this will again lead to another series of painful episodes after a sweet beginning.😕

This serial has nothing to do with orig novel or movie Saraswatichandra. SLB should not have mislead people by using this name. My POV of course.

According to me the story will be modified to suit tv audience. They have just taken a jist of the novel, the characters are same but i think the outcome will be different!

I hope that they deviate from the true story line and have a sweet ending rather then repeat all the usual nonsense of guy marrying the sister of the herione ,girl marrying the friend/brother of the
hero etc etc and all those crap that we strangely get to see in serials and seems to be a trend nowadays .
Based on the manner the story is moving now, the feud between the families (and within the girl's family) is definitely going to happen but whether it splits the guy and girl totally , depends on the director's decision.
Again question remains:Since the review says that it is based on the true novel with some deviations to suit the media;how much is the deviation gonna be .
One thing is for sure, if they are going to split kumud and saras and start the series
of family fights and start with the story of a new relationship for the girl, I am not gonna watch this serial anymore

It can move away from the classic novel:
As much as Slb's Devdaas did from original classic novel!
Or
As much as Harry potter movies did from original stories!!!

Honestly: why even this question? SLB is producing this classic, a prominent Gujarati literature piece for its base importance!
All adaption he is talking about is only upto time context & look(well, upto an extent)
And to suit television format- I.e. putting story into screenplay! NOT changing the soul!

It's simple:
SLB made SaraswatiChandra NOT sarasC/GoodMoon/ something..
The difference is as much as making Devdaas oR DevD!
Right?

hmm..u guys are right...The story can deviate but doesn't necessarily mean that the whole essence of the story can be changed .

So, it's gonna be really sad story of love between Saras and Kumad where they could never unite
but nevertheless remain soulmates for ever !!😭

well its fashoun these days to retell the classics in modern per text .Hollwood has been doing it there are number of English tv series which take there ideas from popular novels and classics , then change it according to viewers taste or sometimes according to the producer or creative himself

Same is with Sarraswatichandra.U cant just go on the way actual novel is coz the novel is more philosophical and not just a love story.

The novel is more about a mans quest to real truth of life, his journey of life and growth as a man by being humanitarian ,writer, sanyasi and then a family man . From being a vulnerable emotional creature to lover then being a saint and then again back to family.

Well people will go mad if SLB actually shows what is in the novel.

The present lot who watch tv are more interested in entertainment and not philosopy of I must correct myself the trp lot .
