-The White Mirror.-

I look at myself in the white mirror like everyday and see the same things I see everyday. I see my eyes clear and transparent as they reflect the image of my face off of the mirror. I see my hair long and straight as it drapes itself over my shoulders covering them like a blanket from the cold. I see my m shaped lips move up and down as I try to form a coherent sentence to express what I feel. I see my long and slender body fight to gain control over it's self and defeat the monsters with in it that are trying to shut it down. I see the battle of life and death move across the white mirror as if I am watching a movie being played. I see the white mirror slowly begin to dissolve into shards of glass as it rapidly falls to the ground signifying the end. The end has come… the monsters have won.

His eyes began to tear up as he put down the diary. It had been 3 years since she had died of cancer and even though he and his wife had slowly begun to move on with the help of there 5 month old daughter he still couldn't help but miss her after all she was his first baby. Ariya daughter of Yash and Aarti Sindhia had died at the age of 10 after battling with lung cancer.

I just wanted to thank everyone for liking my last drabble! It meant alot. Anyways I hope u all enjoy this one. I just wanted to share. And again mods if you need to close this for any reason please do.

Intriguing title, touching piece.

I thought this was a fascinating little drabble because of the way you packed so much information into a very compact space. Listing out some of the things I noticed and loved...

The ambiguity of the narrator/writer, whose identity I gradually pieced together based on clues about physical appearance...

- the long, straight hair

- the m-shaped lips

And then her artistic eloquence and talent with words, even if she may not have the strength to voice them out loud. That reminded me of both Aarti and Yash.

"I see the battle of life and death move across the white mirror..."

Absolutely heart wrenching, to think of a child so young who is old enough to comprehend that her life is being sucked away from her, due to the "monsters" inside - and she can see it physically manifesting. It was painful just to think about what Ariya must have gone through...what Aarti and Yash must have gone through.

Had Ariya lived, she would have been a beautiful, beautiful child, no doubt. That sensitivity, the expressiveness and clarity in her thoughts - amazingly conveyed through this diary entry. This actually made me wonder (yet again) what Aarti's life was like as a child.

I can't leave out the mention of Yash and Aarti's 5-month old daughter, whose existence indicates to me that life goes on...Life didn't stop for Yash and Aarti either, even though it might have seemed like the end of everything at one point. They made it through that dark time; even though wounds may heal slowly and sometimes scars will remain, there is still something worth living for. The pain of losing their first child hasn't faded away, maybe it never will fade entirely, but Yash and Aarti have each other and their little one to care for...and Ariya will always be with them.

Lovely job, Tashu! (I hope you don't mind me calling you that 😳)
