Hmm see the moderators are in action here too... it feels to be in the midst of an active Mod Team repraminding users for irresponsible use of the Board.

Nice info. thanx.

Well ofcourse there are ways of saving yourself from the Avada Kedavra... But all the ones you mentioned are first and formost only diversionary tactics. You have to be mentally stable enough (who would be if ur fighting Voldemort???) to cast a strong conjuring charm. Plus with the strain of fighting with ol' Voldey and the speed with which he fights makes Aparition a lil (little? much more than that 😉 ) difficult, doesen't it? There's also the fact that ur bloody scared of Voldemort and ur just freezing with fear??

But the Avada Kedavra curse isn't affected by Shields, is it? And once it hits you, ur a goner...unlike other spells n hexes...the damage is irreparable....like for most hexes u can undo the damage done...

And Harry and Ron...dummies??? Well I suppose if even after getting through life threatening situations...ur still a dummy...then all the highly witty pl must hv gone to hell n come back then!

1. harry had been learning the 'expelliarmus' since 2nd year
2. Harry was imperioused more than his other classmets in the class. which was to teach him how to defend the curse

these two proves that instinct and lot of practices can prepare you againt anything.

we hve never seen the avada kedavra penitrate beyond anything , so it'll act only what it hits. so conjuring a solid obstacle would work.

finally... JKR makes mistakes and she cant plan everything 100% foolproof. she is a genious, but she is not always perfect. maybe she didnt thought of this idea at all.

No...but Moody said in GoF that the Avada Kedavra is unaffected by shield charms. Otherwise...it would hv been pretty easy to block it n it wouldn't have been so deadly n feared. U can overome the effects of The Imperius if ur willpower is strong...u can bear the Cruciatus if ur pain receptors r good. So with practice n will-power n maybe instinct, u can overcome the Imperius and the Cruciatus...but not so the Avada Kedavra. If it hits u...nothing, no amount of will-power or instinct can save you.

You can run away from d curse, use objects as a resistance but u can't use a magical shield or use any other magical spell to overcome the effects of AK....except for the Priori Incantatem effect...but that will only work with 2 brother wands.😉

yes so?😕 ofcourse they are not! Well...the difference b/w using shield charms(for general curses) and conjuring up objects is that with all the conjuring..ur just distracting...making diversions...and its not going to help you for long, is it? You can't go on conjuring objects till u hv exhausted urself...and eitherways..with Voldemort and his death-eaters, who always come in groups mostly, diversionary tactics are not going to work all that great. They are just temporary...but there's no spell which when used, can permanently protect u against the AK.

there were two pairs of people who escaped/thwarted lord voldemort 3 times each , James, lily, Frank and alice. If you want to foil someone's plan and then escape them, then diversionary tactics are ofcourse very useful.

the 4 times harry faced voldemort also included things like 'thwarting his plans' ... at the end of the goblet of fire , harry was finally able to face voldemort alone and escape him , but that needed him one simple spell : a summoning charm.
