How does a film become a hit

If you have a budget and the income from the Theater is exactly what you spent is that Average ?

But if you make double the budget spent is that mean a HIT ?

If it has unknown/critically acclaimed actors..,.It will never be a hit...Average at max...even if it earns 5 times its budget...
If it has a superstar and earns barely enough to recover money...Its a hit...lol...
