She fumed. She sulked. She pouted. She waited. Zoe's need for Asad is that of a child - his 101% attention, his protection and her much craved and rarely given Princess Treatment from him. So naive , ignorant and unaware is this child-woman that the curtain between her head and heart doesn't clear - she cannot comprehend , understand or accept a simple thing that the extreme possessiveness, the jealousy , the pain and heartbreak she feels in connection to Asad is her love for that man.
Today, this feeling was explained two-fold. First at the dining table where Zoe sat on the dining table , killing water melons - her eyes darting back to Asad again and again, hoping that he will talk to her - even if to quarrel and fight - he will speak to her. The adorable cursing of that Bhookhi Chudail Aurat , her tussle with Asad over Jam Toast serving , her adorable couplet over the same , her literally sabotaging the conversation between Asad and BCA- its nothing but innocence of her love for Asad. A love she doesn't understand , a love she has not realized. Just a child-like tugging at Asad's hand that you are mine and that is the start and the end of it.
Zoe's jealousy is innocent , without malice - just like her. Its a small gesture but a very powerful one- Zoe ate the whole plate of jam-toast so that Asad doesn't get to eat a single thing that those yards of zardozi and brocade have made. It was a declaration from her child-like heart that Tom-Jerry is a game , a life of us two. And no fruit jam gets to spread over it.
And how can you miss Asad's reaction to Zoe's jam-toast antic. He was amused, he smiled , he had a mischievous grin on his face. He is a man and he is not stupid. He understood that Zoe disliked BCA making those toasts or the attention he gives her. He has known it for long - its just that his reactions vary. Earlier, when the shock of having fallen for Zoe was new, Asad used this attention weapon to drive Zoe away. But there are times when he is not on guard. And today was one of those times. He was amused and kind of felt special when Zoe swallowed down those toasts so that he cannot eat what BCA has prepared for him. You can go and check his grins and hidden smiles. Then, came the kitchen politics of Miss. Salwaar Kameez. Asad's childhood friend- someone Asad loves in a platonic way, cares about just as he cares about his family. She is all set to misuse and ravage this trust for her own ulterior motives. Easy for her. She is a pragmatist and she makes choices to suit herself and her needs. For her, people and their emotions are like things and buttons - to be used and thrown at her convenience. So, am not surprised or angry at what she is doing. You do meet cold evil once in a while who lives to ravage others so that it can survive.
Later, during BCA's hospital drama, you notice a few things in both Asad and Zoe:
1. Zoe was worried and concerned about what Asad will think of her and how he will react. She was least bit concerned about where Bhookhi Chudail Aurat must be ghoomoing in Bhopal. What Asad will think about her. How he will react and how she will tackle him. Like always, Zoe's primary concern was hers and Six Packs' relationship that mostly rides a very passionate but fragile boat.
2. On other days, Asad would have made marmalade out of Zoe but he has learned to control his temper buttons as far as Zoe is concerned. I mean, if i sent my best friend out with an 'irresponsible', 'childish' and 'prone-to-lying' person and the person came back sans my BFF, i would blow the rooftops. Asad was not angry but he was disappointed in Zoe .That's why he said - " abb aapko samajh mein aaya ki main aapko itna gairr zimmedaar kyun samajhtaa hoon?" Abb Asad aur uskee Begum Zoe ko kya pataa ki ye 16 yards ki zardozi mein lipti Tanveer shaitaan ki khaala hai.
I remember a discussion we had in Bheegi's as-usual amazing posts during the time when Zoe had tried to keep Asad away from reaching the court hearing. Bheegi had said that trust is gonna be a big issue because Zoe's harmless lies, her good intentions but questionable actions are going to make Asad hesitant about trusting her words. Its like main boloon Sher aaya, Sher aaya .. lekin wo nahiin hotaa aur ek din wo sacch mein aa jaaye, toh kaun maanega?
Zoe was telling the truth but her history of truth and lies with Asad is a shaky ground which makes it logically easy for Asad to trust BCA's words who according to everyone in Khan Mansion is paakeezgi -ki-moorti.
For the rest of the episode, i sympathize with Ayaan but i had said it before that 'SAUTELA' was uncalled for . Ayaan ne uss time gusse mein bol toh diyaa but those words have wormed into Asad's brain and he cannot seem to forget what Ayaan said. IMPACT. Asad gets heavily impacted by everything because his heart is a dangerous combination - FRAGILE and INTENSE.
P.S- BCA is pregnant and what better halaal ka murgaa than Asad? He is so easy to manipulate and use. Sits perfectly as her disaster management plan. Come on, Zoe. Read her and do the right thing. Trash your Jahanpanah's gussa and emotional issues and put your jealousy and confused emotions in your almirah. He needs to be saved from this suicide. He is vulnerable and he is fragile. You save the world and this time, its him, your world at stake. Tape his mouth and show that BCA some sass and kick her out of his life. After all , tumne hi kahaa tha na aaj:
