I am a bit of feminist I suppose. LOL. But on a serious note, I never thought it was normal what my mom thought was ok in a relationship. And I have been but rebellious too. My luck was that I found the sweetest husband who himself, being a social worker, is against violence against women. I was lucky but my daughter may not be( mind you she's only 7). But my education to her has already started, I want her to be confident, independent women once she grows up. Mind you she's very head strong. But it is my responsibility today to teach her that it is not ok to be treated like minority, the gender equality and all that. But yes I do agree, media plays a big role. All our young women think its ok to be trampled over coz the guy is so good looking. No!! It's not right.
Great to hear your thoughts Raji!
I agree with you reel life affects real life and what's more, media has this responsibility which often they deny or ignore in the name of short deadlines, creative license, etc.
You're doing the right thing! It's important for mothers to teach their daughters 😃 I owe my mom a great deal in this regard. She taught me the difference between self respect and ego. Of course, that doesn't mean that I didn't make mistakes along the way.. But I had the sense to realise them.
But yeah, media does play a role - boys might think its ok to be rude or boss around, and girls might think its ok to be bossed and pushed around.
