*ZOYA*
Asad looked at the time. It was 9 O' clock! He had overslept…correction…he had hardly slept. He had not been able to sleep a wink ever since he had agreed to marrying Tanveer. It had been a move to take a weight off his heart. He had been torn between his heart and his bloody intellect…therefore it came as a relief when Ammi had suggested he take his friendship with Tanveer to the next step.
"Asad, mein soch rahi thi kyun nahi tum Tanu se shaadi kar le. Tum dono ek doosre ko itni achhi tarah samajhte hain…. " It was like Ammi was putting out the fire that had kept him burning in hell ever since they had come back from the adventure on the Highway. Zoya had changed a lot. He couldn't blame her. He had left her alone in a stranded place- unforgivable- and he had been punished by providence once again, by almost losing her again. It was as if every time he rebuked her strongly, it ended in her in a near death situation…AND IT KILLED HIM…
He had apologized…he was not even sure for what. For his unkind words the night before of which he had only a faint memory? For abandoning her in a strange place? For not knowing she had been in danger? For not being there when she needed him?
She had not been angry. She had simply become silent…and accepting. He knew he had hurt her deeply this time around; so much, that she had stopped responding. And all he could think of was her- even as the court case had been foremost in his mind, he was being torn into bits by the two people who mattered to him the most, Ayan and his Ammi- but she was the thought he went to sleep with and woke up with; a heaviness upon him. It did not make sense. He was dead sure she was not the one for him…yet…
So, he had taken it as a sign from heaven when Ammi came up with the proposal. And a fat lot of good it had done him!!! If the fire within had been faint and warm before that, it had turned into a towering inferno after that… He had been able to sleep at least, prior to that. Now all he did was toss around. And it did not help one bit that she did what he had repeatedly asked her to do- stop interfering with his life!
Asad got dressed and went downstairs. Tamatar wished him and served him his breakfast. Zoya was sitting on the couch with her ipad. He had sensed her discomfort, when she saw him. But she had not moved. She went back to her ipad, working on it furiously. Tamatar got him his papers and Coffee- his Breakfast was set. Najma went up, leaving them both alone in the living space. Ammi must have gone out. Tanveer had gone back to her place, in preparation of the wedding.
As he completed his breakfast, Asad did not take his eyes off Zoya. He wished she'd at least give him a glance or a smile- some sort of an acknowledgement. No such luck! He finished his breakfast and went up to her. He cleared his throat. Zoya looked up. Her eyes met his gaze for a microsecond, and then looked away- it bugged him a lot- that she wouldn't look into his eyes when he talked to her. But there was some semblance of a smile on her face- some kind of concession!
"Zoya, main office jaa raha hoon. Aapko kahi drop karoon?"
No words. Just a nod of denial and then…a 'thanks'! Conversation over!
Asad resigned himself to the hell in his heart and walked out. He paused outside the door. Should he sit down and talk to her? About what? Not that he cared. All he wanted to do right now was to sit next to her on that couch and listen to her laughter. She hardly ever laughed these days!
Zoya had seen Asad walking away, out of the corner of her eyes. And she breathed a sigh of relief. It had not become easier, like she had hoped. Her heart still hammered loud in her chest, whenever he came near. The thought of him still brought tears to her eyes. She had not slept the first two nights after the announcement. Lately, it had become easier. She just had to hug her pillow and cry herself to sleep, biting her lips every time she wanted to cry out his name. She knew she had no right. At least, Allah had been merciful on that count…she was not left hanging around, hoping…it was so much easier when she knew he was not hers..was never, will never be….she could feel tears welling up.
"Zoya…..". She quickly collected herself.
Comment:😊
Dear reader,
As you can see, this is heavily inspired from the current track. The thoughts are exactly as I read from the expressions on the actors' faces. It is not a prediction or the way I want the track to go on..just inspired by the sadness portrayed in the show…kudos to the writer, director and the actors and the whole team! They are choking this FF out of me...I feel bad for them, because this is a poor reproduction of their creativity!
Thank You for the patient reading.
Comments are welcome, positive and negative.🤗
