The first thought that i had after today's episode ended , was for Rashid. Even though i looked at Asad , my thought was for Rashid. Not an empathetic and sympathetic one. But a pitying shake-my-head kinda thought. YOU. SHOULD.HAVE.SPOKEN. THE.TRUTH.RASHID.
As today, Asad stood like a son and a man damaged beyond control, harbouring an unimaginable emotional hatred for his father , nurturing an infallible fierce love for his mother , aiming a gun at Rashid - i realized just how deep Asad's wounds run. All that hatred and disgust that Asad has harboured for Rashid came out like a venom spat in one go. Why? Because Rashid lived in shadows of fear, insecurity, cowardice. Because he never told the truth that should have been told. Because he hid a sin and a sin's secret. Because in servitude of Razia , he too became a partner in crime. Rashid did not deserve to stand in front of Asad's gun . But he deserved all the hatred that came his way today. Not because he killed someone. Its because he veiled a sin and killed Asad, Najma and Dilshad everyday for 17 years.
Asad , due to his conditioned hatred and disgust was pre-set to believe that Rashid was a villain. Yet, because Zoe insisted , Asad asked him to prove his innocence . Asad asked him to give answers that would placate him that Rashid was innocent. But Rashid? QUIET. Even at this particular cliffhanger moment , he did not open his mouth. Asad kept asking and Rashid , like always had nothing to say. Or wait a minute here. He knew what to say but he didn't have the guts to say it.
And Dilshad? I understand that she loves Rashid and she was shaken by Asad's anger and the gun but how about turning towards Rashid, and asking him to EXPLAIN? Explain the skeleton. Explain knowing Raghu... SAY SOMETHING! Instead of lecturing Asad all the time that 'tumne hamesha apne Abbu ko galat samjhaa hai', ask his Abbu to move beyond ' main kucch nahiin bataa sakta'.
Rashid, purely due to his cowardice and servitude has made so much mess and done so much damage that everything is beyond his control now. Asad's emotional breakdown and hatred mode is glaring proof of that. Imagine. Asad almost shot Rashid dead . Can you fathom the degrees of this hatred? Good job, Rashid. Brilliant work, Razia.
Asad's hatred was not just because his father allegedly shot his mom. It was the same pain for that skeleton lying there whom Rashid has 'killed'. It hits you when Asad asks Rashid if it ever occurred to him that the person who is a bone bag here must have someone in the world who must be crying in his/her memory?
Asad was not in his senses and the scene presented to him, the sealed lips of Rashid and his intense love for his Mom did nothing to better the situation. I am unsure if Rashid will ever get Asad back in a long long time.
I fail to understand Rashid even if i see where he is coming from. Being a good person is useless if you don't have the honesty, courage, righteousness and the spine to go with it. Goodness and cowardice are often an unforgivable combination. Asad had a point when he said that who did Rashid think he was saving? Your second household will be very proud of you knowing all this?
The irony is that Rashid has not done any crime but due to his cowardice , he has become a part of a sin he can never wash his hands off from. Remember the blood on his hands in the ME promo? There.
Asad had no business pointing a gun at his father and maybe in his senses he wouldn't have. Rashid had no right to hide a woman's death and being in his complete senses , he shouldn't have.
Zoe? She has no idea that she is the center of all this mess . For now, all her pain was for Dilshad and Asad. She is learning to control Asad and his temper and to a certain extent , he gives in to her. Raghu is alive because Zoe pulled Asad away. Asad got ready to listen to Raghu and Rashid only because Zoe wanted him to. Zoe is no longer scared of tackling Asad even in his worst moods, which i think is a good thing.
Rashid... if only you had taken a deep breath and OPENED YOUR MOUTH.
P.S- I think the most sad and yet amusing moment was when Asad was tearfully howling at Rashid that has he ever thought that the person whom he has killed has somebody out there? Someone who cries everyday because this dead person is no longer there? And Zoe was standing right behind Asad , not knowing that the person whose tears and loneliness Asad is talking about is her. And maybe , just maybe the corpse towards whom Zoe had her back was her Ammie. Ammie, who is never coming back.
