Bollywood Mumbai: Now that "Jassi... Jaisi Koi Nahin" is nearing an end, Mona Singh speaks on the trauma of being the protagonist 24x7 and rumours of a romance with co-star Karan Oberoi.

"There's nothing! I am too ambitious to get into a relationship," Mona told IANS in an interview.

After "Jassi...", Mona wants to throw away the garb of Jassi and create a place for herself as Mona Singh in showbiz. "I have to find my own identity now. It's been three years! I was zapped mentally... Imagine telling people all the time that I wasn't Mona, that I was this make-believe character named Jassi." "But I'm not going to burst into an item number just to prove I'm not Jassi in real life. I'll only do what I'm comfortable with. I hope there are some good roles written for me."

No, don't call me that any more. I am Mona. I have to find my own identity now. It's been three years! I was zapped mentally... Imagine telling people all the time that I wasn't Mona, that I was this make-believe character named Jassi. Initially, I sort of enjoyed the anonymity. But after a while it became a mental torture to be 'Jassi' even at awards functions. I used to plead with my channel (Sony) to let me be myself at least at the awards function. Because, it was Mona Singh and not Jassi who received the awards. But they insisted.

Yes,so it was she who said all this...Its is really disturbing to see her use the tag for votes NOW,for votes.......

I couldn't get the point you were trying to make .. Coz all I said is that she, ON PURPOSE, didn't use her Jassi tag to get votes for her ... I also read the above article and I know she did wanna get that tag off of her .. But what I was saying is that she DIDN'T ask people to vote coz she was jassi or she DIDN'T ask her JJKN fans only to vote !

It is her fans who remember her as Jassi ... So, she had to go with it ... I dun know why everyone is blaming her for that ??? !! 😕

If you have to blame, blame Sony for introducing her as Jassi .. Blame her fans for remembering her as Jassi ... Blame the TV for NOT introducing Shveta that way ...

It was dancing with the STARS ... So, everything is fair ...

I think next time when they are choosing contestants they should choose people based on their popularity .. Like each one should be equally popular in their respective fields .. then I guess such accusations wouldnt have come up ...

congrats to mona on her victory. BUT she was NOT the best in JDJ. It's okay to use jassi card, it's perfectly within the rules. As far as mona's interviews are concerned I don't take them seriously. She has given contradictory statements many times during JJKN days.
