Don is doing quite well - Shah Rukh Khan

It is rare to see stars to come out and announce to the world that their films are doing quite well. It is further rare to see someone of the stature of SRK doing so. But then even the superstars change rules when 99% of media is hell bent of proclaiming their films a washout, when the reality is far from true.

By now it is quite clear that Don is dong exceedingly well in both overseas and India and though the reviews for the film havent been too flattering, audience has by and large given this Don-with-a-twist a Thumbs Up. No wonder King Khan is elated.

It has been 5 days since the film released and the collections are out for everyone to have a look. There are hardly any centers where the film is still not doing 100% collections and for a film that was panned on day one, it is heartening to see the collections sustain, he said with his tongue firmly in cheek in a TV interview.

On being asked about the future prospects of Don, he said that he had full belief that his Muslim brothers would further make the film a big money spinner since its Idd time and everyone is in a festive mood. He also added with a smile that since most of the country gets a bonus during this season, they love to get entertained and what better way to be entertained than watch a film with a family.

He also had his reasoning when asked about the harsh reviews and some negative publicity that the film had garnered. He said, See, I have now around 20 years experience behind me when it comes to TV and films and hence I have got used to such feedback. Anyways my films have always garnered mixed reviews. I think intelligent people havent really jumped with joy by watching Don but those who just want to have fun without worrying too much about anything else; they are indeed enjoying themselves.

SRK was at his characteristic best when asked to choose his favorite between Chandra Barots Don and Farhan Akhtars Don. He said, When Farhan, Riteish and me decided to make Don, the idea was simple - to present something to todays generation which they have missed from the past. In this way, for the purpose of a remake, Barots Don is our favorite. But when it comes to doing something for the current generation to give them a contemporary film that they would enjoy most, Farhans Don is our favorite.

There is hidden conceit in the interview. How can he say that his DOn will be the favorite with the new generation. Isn't it too early to say that. For him to come out in the open and give an interview like this also could imply that the movie is really not doing all that well in India particularly. He is making this a a religious issue by saying my muslim brothers will make it a money spinner. If your movie is good buddie people will go and watch it otherwise they will trash it. You don't have to rely on a certain sect to anchor you. U know the entire nation has supported u when u have given good movies like DDLJ, Yes Boss and Pardes. He is actually sounding desperate in this interview to garner support and publicity for himself.

😆 So true 😳 ...But he is right...most of the youngsters have LOVED it 😉 ...and I think now that SRK only has said it so... 😛 it must be true naa 😆

I agree. I'm young and I like the old Don better because it is better written. I have seen the new Don and its too focused on styling...nothing more.

i agree with shahrukh it is much more appealin to the new generation..bcos its fast and slick..Don has done really well and it is a awesome film.. 😊

i agree with u ..new don is for new generation n know it is being accepted ..well done ..can't go on comparing it with old don
