As the festive spirit of Ganeshotsav takes over households across India, videos of Salman Khan participating in the celebrations at his Mumbai home have once again gone viral. Like every year, the superstar was seen joining his family in welcoming Lord Ganesha with devotion and warmth. The Khan family's open celebration of the festival has long been admired, and now Salim Khan, veteran screenwriter and father of Salman Khan, has shared the deeper significance behind it.

In a recent interview with The Free Press Journal, Salim Khan spoke about the tradition of observing Ganeshotsav in the Khan household. He revealed that it is not a recent practice but one that goes back to his own father's time, showing how inclusivity and respect for all faiths have always been central to their values.

He said, "From Indore until today, we have never had beef. Beef is eaten by most Muslims as it is the cheapest meat! Some even buy it to feed pet dogs. But in the teachings of prophet Mohammed, he has clearly stated that a cow’s milk is a substitute for mother’s milk and it is a mufid (beneficial) cheez.''

''He has stated that cows should not be killed and beef is forbidden. Prophet Mohammed has adopted good things from every religion. Like eating only halaal meat which was adopted from the Jews, who call it kosher. He has postulated that every religion is good and believes in a Supreme Power like we do,'' he further added.

Salim Khan also shared that his family celebrates all major festivals including Holi, Diwali, Dussehra, Eid, and Christmas with the same spirit. This inclusive approach, he explained, is not driven by public image but is a genuine reflection of their upbringing and belief in unity.

The Khan family's celebrations of Ganeshotsav year after year serve as a powerful reminder that faith can be a force for connection rather than division. Salim Khan’s words echo a timeless message about compassion, understanding, and the importance of respecting every belief system.
