The last 10 days of ramadan are here, here is a little article for all of you:

The Last Ten Days of Ramadan

By Magda Azzam

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If any Muslim comes out of Ramadan without gaining forgiveness and goodness, he is a real loser." (reported by Ibn Hibban and At-Tabarani)

The last ten days of Ramadan are very special days in the life of every Muslim. According to Muslims, they are the most blessed days in the blessed month of Ramadan, the month the Qur'an was revealed. Muslims believe that although the Prophet Muhammad was promised Paradise , he used to exert himself even more in worship during these last ten days, hoping to draw closer to Allah. The Prophet's wife 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet used to tighten his waist belt (i.e., work hard) and used to pray all the night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers." (reported by Al-Bukhari)

For Muslims, the last ten days should be a time to perfect one's fast and avoid anything that may break it. It is a time to give more charity and to settle disputes and forgive one another. It is also a time for soul searching, evaluating one's life, supplicating, and asking forgiveness. This should be done sincerely because if Allah accepts the supplications, the reward is the remission of one's sins.

The best time to do it is in the last part of the night. Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "When the last one third of the night remains, our Lord, the Glorious One, descends towards the lower heaven and proclaims: Is there anyone supplicating to Me, so that I grant his supplication? Is there anyone begging of Me for anything, so that I grant him his wish? Is there anyone who seeks My forgiveness, so I forgive him?" (reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

During the last third of Ramadan, one should read more Qur'an and remember Allah more often, even constantly.

The last ten days are also known for i'tikaf (spiritual retreat). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform i'tikaf in the mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan, barely sleeping during that time. I'tikaf requires a total devotion to Allah; it is a sort of vacation with Him. The time is spent worshiping, performing extra salah (ritual Prayers), reading the Qur'an, making dhikr (remembrance of Allah) and du'aa' (supplication). One should leave behind the cares of this world, and even eat and sleep in the mosque. Those who cannot perform i'tikaf for ten days should try to do it for a shorter time, if only for one night or a day or two.

Laylat Al-Qadr also occurs during the last ten days of Ramadan. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Any Muslim who stands in Prayer during Laylat Al-Qadr out of faith and sincerity, his previous sins will be forgiven."

I also have something to share.

Below are the methods for two very important prayers often prayed on Laylat il Qadr, Salat il Tahajood, and Salat il Tasabeeh. May Allah accept all of our prayers and supplications, grant us forgiveness during this merciful month, and reward us with Paradise inshallah. Ameen.

*****Method of praying Tahajjud Prayer****

Its a 11 Rakat prayer to be recited after midnight, preferably just before the commencement of the morning prayer

1. Nafilah of Layl - 8 rakats divided into four prayers of two raka'ats each like morning prayer.

2. Salat al Shaf'a - 2 rakats like morning prayer without any qunoot

(certain surahs are recommended after al-hamd for #1 and #2 listed above but any are acceptable.)

3. Salat al-Witr -

a) 1 rakat with al-ikhlas 3x, al-falaq once and an-nas once are recommended after al-hamd.

b) In qunoot this dua is recommended: In the name of Allah, the Beneficient the Merciful. There is no God except Allah, the Forbearing the Generous. There is no God except Allah the High the Almighty. Glory be to Allah Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the seven earths, and whatever is in them and between them and above them and below them Lord of the mighty throne. Peace be on the Messengers. All praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah send blessings on Muhammad and his family, the purified ones.

c) Then 70 x ask for forgiveness (I seek forgiveness of Allah my Lord and I turn repentant towards Him - Astaghfirullah rabbi wa atoobo ilaih)

d) Ask forgiveness for forty believers (or more) by saying O Allah forgive ________ (Allahumma maghfirlee ___________) followed by O Allah forgive all believers and Muslims (Allahumma maghfirlil momineen wal muslimeen)

e) say 7x This is the refuge of one who seeks refuge in You from the fire

f) Say 300x Al 'Afwa (The Forgiver) referring to Allah swt.

g) finish rakat as normal..then recite dua as under
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent the Merciful.

There is no God except Allah, the Forbearing the Generous.
There is no God except Allah the High the Almighty.
Glory be to Allah Lord of the seven heavens
and Lord of the seven earths,
and whatever is in them and
between them and above them and below them
Lord of the mighty throne.
Peace be on the Messengers.
All praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds.
O Allah send blessings on Muhammad
and his family, the purified ones.

TRANSLITERATION:

****Salatul Tasbih- For forgiveness of All Sins****

Benefits of Salat-Ul-Tasbih
Our Beloved Prophet Mohammed (Sallallaho Alihiwassallam) said to his uncle (father's brother) Sayyiduna Abbass (may Allah be pleased with him) Oh uncle shall I not give you Shall I not grant you Shall I not award you Shall I not do mercy on you When you do 10 things Allah will forgive your sins: of the future and of the past; new and old; those you have forgotten and those you did knowingly; big and small; hidden and revealed. Then he (Sallallaho Alihiwassallam) explained the taught the way to pray Salatul Tasbih and then said if you can pray this salah once a day, if you can not pray once a day then every Friday, and even if this is not possible then once a month and even if this is not possible then once a year and even if this is not possible then at least once in a lifetime (Abu'Dawood & Tirimzi)

How to perform Salatul Tasbih?
This salaat (namaz) is offered in four rakat at a time and can be read in any part of the day and night besides Zawal and Sunrise and Sunset makrooh times, keeping in mind the forbidden times for performing Salat (namaaz). But is is preferred before Zuhr (Fatawa Alamgeeri)

The Tasbih to be read in Salaat-Ul-Tasbeeh:
" Subhaan Allahi Wal Hamdulillahi Wa Laa ilaha illal Laahu Wallahu Akbar "

Method:
Goal is to recite above Tasbih 300 times in Four Rakah with the following method.
In the first rakaat, after reading Sana "Subhaana Kallahumma...", read the above tasbih 15 times.
Now recite Aaoz "Aoozubillah...", Bismillah "Bismillah...", Then read sura Fatiha and a Surah or minimum of three small Ayayhs then read the tasbih 10 times again.
Go to ruku saying Takbeer (Allah Hoo Akbar), after reciting "Subhaana Rabbiyal Azeem" minimum of three times read the tasbih 10 times in Ruku.
Saying "Samee Allahu Liman Hamidah Rabbana Lakal Hamdh" get up from ruku to qiyam position.
Now read the tasbih 10 times.
Go to Sajdah saying Takbeer (Allah Hoo Akbar) and after reciting "Subhaana Rabbiyal A'la" minimum of three times read the tasbih 10 times in Sajdah.
Now go after first Sajdah go to Jalsa (sitting position) saying Takbeer (Allah Hoo Akbar). Sitting in Jalsa read tasbih 10 times.
Go to sajda again saying Takbeer (Allah Hoo Akbar) and after reciting "Subhaana Rabbiyal A'la" minimum of three times read the tasbih 10 times in Sajdah again.
Get up to begin 2nd rakat saying Takbeer (Allah Hoo Akbar).
Do rakah #2 in same fashion, but before reading Bismillah "Bismillah...", and Surah Fatiha, read the tasbih 15 times. Follow the rest as you did in first Rakat.
After second Sajdah of Second Rakat sit in Qaidah Oola (first sitting) read Attahiyat, Durood and Dua then get up for 3rd rakaat without saying Salam.
Begin third Rakat, just like the first Rakat, with Sana "Subhaana Kallahumma...", read the above tasbih 15 times. Follow the rest as you did in first Rakat untill you sit for Qaidah Akihra (last sitting) after second sajdah of fourth Rakah.
In Qaidah Akihra Attahiyat, Durood, Dua finish Salah with Salam.

May Allah have mercy on us all inshallah, and keep us on the straight path always.
