Well here I am with the promised update, but first I want to thank each and every one of you for liking and commenting on the last update. I debated on thanking you guys individually but I am pressed for time and I know you all want to read the next part badly, so just want to say thank you to all of you from the bottom of my heart.
I wanted to post two updates today, but I have yet to finish part 2 of this update, but I should be able to post part 2 by tomorrow.
My next two updates are dedicated to our very own mohabbat girl, aka Avantika, who not only left me speechless with her last review but she inspired me to hit the keyboard quickly as possible with her fabulous updates. Thank you dear Avantika for the motivation.😊
Okay without any delay, read on.
Part 10
Priya parked the car away from the bank and jumped out of the car, Swati also walked around the car and they both rushed towards the front of the bank. They hadn't said a word during the drive to the bank since they were both worried for Sameer. Priya has been glad she had planned to go to the office after spending the morning with Swati so she had dressed accordingly instead of dressing casually.
Priya eyed the crowd behind the barricade that the police had erected to keep people far away from the bank, she didn't notice anything unusual but she felt as someone was watching her. She looked once more before walking towards the ETF van where Shree, Chotu and Arjun stood discussing the happenings in the bank.
Arjun had just glanced up from the monitor that was giving them live feed of what was going on inside the bank through the cameras in the bank when he spotted Priya along with Swati walking towards them. He frowned when he saw her stiffen as she glanced around the crowd. He also looked at the people milling around but did not notice anything unusual. He glanced back at Priya to see her shake her head then resumed walking towards them.
Swati stood bit away from the ETF van since she is not part of the police. She was just glad to be allowed this far she didn't want to take advantage of her friend's position as an ETF officer. She twisted her hands together and closed her eyes and prayed for Sameer's safety.
Is this her punishment for turning him away so quickly last night? Why hadn't she stayed calm and took time to understand him instead of telling him she has moved on? She prayed and hoped that she is given another chance to talk to him, to understand him and hopefully to move past what happened in the past so they can try to work on their relationship.
She didn't know of Sameer has gotten over his fears but she will do her best to convince him to let go of his fears. This time around she won't let him give up on them so easily. "Please stay safe Sameer because I don't think I will able to live if something happens to you." She muttered to herself as she looked at his teammates discussing what to do to get everyone out of the bank safely.
Meanwhile Sameer sat on the floor in the bank and scolded himself for getting himself caught in what appeared to be amateur criminals trying to rob a bank, at least two of them were definitely new to the crime world but the other two looked as if they had been born in the criminal world.
Something was not adding up he thought as he eyed the two men who were in deep discussion by the front door. One was tall and lanky, he was a typical criminal, the type who thinks whoever holds the gun has all the power. He had been the one ordering the other three, but the one who stood with him seemed like he was more of a leader material than the first guy. The second guy was almost six feet tall and well built, he didn't say much but the look in his eyes was enough to convey the message.
Sameer was most weary of him than the other three. When the guy had taken his gun from him he had not asked for his cell phone, which had immediately raised a flag in Sameer's head. It seemed the man had a different agenda then the other three with him. He decided to keep an eye on the guy who was most dangerous but he didn't ignore the other three either as he typed out a quick message to Shree.
Shree relayed Sameer's message to Arjun, "Sir according to Sameer sir there are four men inside the bank but two seems to be very new to holding up a bank. There are about ten hostages including him."
Arjun glanced at the front door of the bank casually then looked around again to find a way into the bank. "Shree do we have the blue prints of the bank?" he asked.
Shree pulled out the blue prints and spread them out for Arjun to look at them. "Sir this is one of the main branch of the bank so the building is bigger. There are several entrances, including the one back here, " Shree said placing his finger in the place where the back doors are located.
"Why would they pick a main branch of the bank to rob if they can't cover all the exits?" Priya asked.
Arjun again looked around then glanced at Priya, "Something is definitely off," he turned back to the blue prints. "Shree ask Sameer if there are any bathrooms in the bank and their locations."
Few minutes later Shree's phone buzzed, "They are in the back part of the bank sir." Shree said and pointed to the blue prints.
Arjun nodded, "Okay let's prepare to go in through the back," he instructed as he checked his gun. "Don't fire unless it's absolutely necessary, we want to catch all four men alive. This seems to be about more than a bank robbery."
Priya felt a prickling sensation in the back of her neck again and again she searched the area for the source of the feeling but didn't see anything out of place.
She looked up when Arjun handed her the bulletproof vest, "I don't have a good feeling about this." She said then glanced at Swati who was standing to the side with a worried look on her face.
Arjun followed her gaze and nodded, "I know but Sameer will be fine, don't worry." He then walked over to Swati, which surprised Priya.
Swati saw Arjun walking towards her and hoped he was not coming to give her bad news. She glanced at Priya to see her watching Arjun in astonishment and knew that it couldn't be bad news.
Arjun could see that he was about to surprise Swati and he was sure that he had already shocked Priya but he needed to do this for Sameer. He stopped in front of Swati and gave her a reassuring nod. "He is fine Swati and I will make sure nothing happens to him." That is best he can do. He didn't want to promise her anything in case if things don't go right inside.
"Thank you Arjun, I know you and Priya will do your best to bring him out safely." Swati said.
Arjun nodded his head again then turned to walk back towards his team.
Chotu and Shree had also looked on with confusion, "Who is that?" Shree asked.
"Ha yaar, I am wondering the same thing." Chotu replied.
They both shrugged and waited for Arjun to instruct them.
"Shree let Sameer know to ask someone to request to go to the bathroom once we are inside. Do you have the keys to the back door?" Arjun knew they were taking a bit of a risk but he is sure Sameer would have alerted him if there are chances of things blowing up in their faces.
"Yes sir, the bank manager had brought everything over with the blue prints." Shree said as he handed Arjun the single key to the back door.
Arjun took the key, looked behind him to make sure everyone was read before walking towards the back of the bank. Besides him, Priya, Chotu and Shree there were five other trained officers with them to get everyone out safely.
Meanwhile inside the bank Sameer watched the two main men closely as he waited for Shree to signal him. He wanted to make sure that no shots were fired and the men are captured so that he can inquire about the motive behind this supposed robbery.
He was now sure that the guy who is second in command had another agenda the way he kept glancing outside then at him. He felt his phone vibrate and knew it was time for action. "Excuse me," he called out to the first man, "can this lady use the bathroom." He said pointing to the woman sitting near him. He had already told her to not say anything when he made the request.
The second in command looked at him sharply then walked over to the first man to say something to him in lowered voice. Sameer watched as the first man shook his adamantly but finally relent when the second man kept arguing with him. He signaled one of the other men to escort the woman to the bathroom.
Sameer didn't take his gaze off the two men by the front door but watched the other man from the corner of his eye just to be sure he doesn't try anything. Few minutes later he saw Arjun appear followed by rest of the team. They had surrounded the three men before they could even raise their guns.
Sameer immediately went to the man he had been watching closely and took his gun from him, "Chotu make sure we get a chance to question this man later." He instructed.
To his surprise the man did not react at all and walked away with Chotu quietly confirming Sameer's suspicions regarding the man.
Meanwhile the object of his thoughts was watching Priya as he walked past her. Priya was unaware of the man because she was getting statements from the bank employees and customers present in the bank.
Once they had everything under control Priya walked over to Sameer and waited for him to finish giving instructions to the officers transporting the four men. "Sameer," she said as she approached him then waited for him to turn to her, "There is someone waiting for you outside."
Sameer frowned at Priya and wondered who was waiting for him; he walked outside to meet the person. He looked around for the person but didn't see anyone at first then inhaled sharply when he saw Swati standing few feet away from the ETF van, watching him with tear filled eyes.
Everything stood still as he gazed at her, he could clearly see the relief, forgiveness, chance for a new beginning in her eyes. He walked towards her and she also started towards him, they moved faster as the distance between them decreased and stopped when they were only inches apart.
No words were needed to convey what they felt in that moment. For Swati it was enough that he was safe and for Sameer it was enough that she was willing to overlook his mistake of the past to worry for him and be there for him.
Sameer opened his mouth to speak but she put her hand on his arm then shook her head. "Not now Sameer, we will talk about it later. I just wanted to make sure you are okay, I know you have lot of work to finish still." She smiled at him then looked behind him.
Sameer turned and followed her gaze, he had forgotten all about his team, the reports he had to file and a suspect he had to question when he realized Swati had been present the whole time he had been in the bank.
He turned back to Swati and nodded, "Okay, I will see you later." He gave her a small smile and a reassuring nod before walking back to his team.
Swati watched until he disappeared then turned to walk back to her car. Priya had given her the keys to the car before going into the bank. She was relieved that both Priya and Sameer were safe. She decided to head home; there was lot of things to think about now that she has made her decision regarding Sameer and their relationship.
Two hours later, ETF office
Chotu and Shree watched the man they had arrested wearily; they did not know what to make of the man and his behavior. He has not said a word nor did he look like he was regretting what he did. He was sitting back in the chair in a relaxed pose as if he had nothing to worry about.
Few minutes later Arjun, Sameer and Priya walked into the interrogation room with varying expressions. Chotu dismissed Rathore's usual angry expression and Arjun's blank and cold expressions. He was more interested in Priya's expression. She froze in her tracks in shock when she got a glimpse of the man slumped in the chair, the source of her unease.
Arjun stood back with his arms across his chest as he assessed the suspect in front of him. He waited for Sameer to lead the interrogation of the man.
The man spoke up before Sameer could start questioning him. "ACP Sameer Rathore, nice to finally meet you officially."
Sameer was taken back for a moment but recovered quickly. "Have we met before? Who are you?"
The man did not answer instead he flickered a glance at Arjun then at Priya. Arjun turned slightly to see Priya looking back at the man with a blank expression on her face. He turned to Sameer and spoke with confidence, "Instead of asking him who he is Rathore ask him what branch of government he belongs to. "Arjun did not take his eyes off the man he managed to surprise and alert at the same time, "He is a cop."
The man grinned then looked at Priya. "Not bad ACP Arjun Raute, only one other person had been able to recognize me as a cop while undercover."
"Priya?" Sameer asked as he turned to her.
Priya finally moved forward and shook her head as she looked at the man who was grinning at her with amusement. "I see you haven't changed a bit," she said then turned to Sameer. "Meet Avinash Mehra, or at least that is the name that he went by four years ago, he was also investigating Sikandar during our operation."

Well?😊Before you guys wonder let me just say it, Avinash had no romantic interest in Priya before or now, but he is important character in order to get the story move forward.
