sorry for being late... i was on a writer's block for this.
.and then i was out in my home town for a tiny vacation😳..and finally back!!! thank you so much for bearing with me❤️
She woke up around 6 am… anyways she hadn't been able to sleep the entire night. She took a quick bath and went to the kids to get them ready. By the time Maan reached the breakfast table, the kids were all set to go to school!
"how come you people got ready so early?"
Dia was in half sleep, "yawwnn..papa..angel..angel ne kiya…"
He rolled his eyes..she has actually gone mad. Dadima joined them a few seconds later!
"good morning beta./…Geet kahan hain?'
[good morning beta..where is Geet?]
"dadima… am here…ouch…"
She was hurrying down the stairs, trying to put on her watch. His eyes followed that voice and actually stopped on her. she was in a knee length skirt… actually she was totally in formals.. with her coat and her bag,…her hair tied in a tight plait, falling over her shoulder. She looked sooo pretty in that… she joined them in the breakfast table but couldn't eat anything more than a toast.
"Geet..geet..geet.. relax…its not your first day at office right.. you have just got transferred..thats it!"
Dadima smiled at their growing comfort with each other..but kept it to herself.
Namra looked at Geet all set to leave for some place!
"angel..where are you going?"
She was checking and re checking all her stuffs again and again.
"umm..office beta..am joining today…"
"then then you you get busy like papa and no play with us…."
Both Maan and Geet stooped and looked at dia..who had popped the question… it was really a sad thing for kids..parents working..not giving enough time…Geet walked ahead and kissed her forehead, "no..we will still play together…"
"how.."
"umm umm..i will come back early…simple!!!"
That was enough to cheer them up..but they knew their life was going to change from now. Maan always made sure he dropped the kids at school everyday..in this way they wont feel lonely. He saw getting wearing her shoes, running to get the car keys. He shook his head and held her hand. She turned to meet his questioning gaze… but before she could say something, he just gave his verdict, "don't bother..i'll drop you today…"
She gaped at him…he will drop her??? dadima smiled and hid her face behind the magazine she was reading!!!! Geet stood rooted..her mouth flung open…he was right in front of her…holding her hand, wanting to drop her at her office!!! Dadima waited for Geet's reply…she was being more impatient than Maan. And seeing no further improvement, she got near Geet and gave her a little push, 'han han definitely she will go..come on..maan.. take her..or else she'll be late on her first day itself!!"
Geet eyed dadima whilst she winked. The kids joined them..soo happy to see their angel and papa again dropping them off at school. The whole journey was sooo good. Geet waved the kids as they ran off and get back to her seat, as he pulled towards her office. The drive was silent.. she was so nervous..and she didn't know why! Numerous times he had dropped her off..in college, in malls, with her friends.. but today..she actually felt special. He really did think about her..may be a little but he did.
"nervous?', he finally broke the silence, seeing her oddly quiet.
"umm.. shayad thoda sa…"
[umm..may be a little…]
"Geet…its gonna be okay… relax yaar!!! And I know koi tumhe ek baat kahega..tum use dus sunake aa jaogi..so chill"
[Geet… its gonna be okay.. realx yaar! And I know if someone tells you one thing..you'll sunaofy him 10 things and come back]
"excuse me..was it an encouragement?"
He suppressed his smile, "umm something like that…"
He stopped in front of her office. She got off and bend down to the widow! He flashed a sweet smile, "any problem.. just give me a call okay..and enjoy your day..."
"thanks a lottt Maan….. I will.."
"tell me when you'll be done.. if am free…I shall come and pick you too.."
And he drove off. She just stood rooted there..my my…he was planning to pick her up too??? Ok…may be he was just saying it like that..otherwise Maan singh khurana and time..was just impossible. She sighed, keeping her expectations low..because expectations hurt. She walked in..trying just to forget whatever he said about picking her up.
He reached his office..but he was totally in a very light mood. It was so different for his staffs… he had never been this jolly..okay little bit jolly but for his staff..even this was too much! he was in a good mood so they tried hard to keep everything perfect so as not to ruin his awesome self. It was around lunch time when he got a call from namra. They were missing Geet and they didn't have her number. Even dia was adamant on seeing their angel. He managed to pacify them..but then his mind went to her…did she have her lunch? Was she facing any problem today? When was she getting free? It was all so useless…so random but he couldn't stop thinking about it. and the best part..he just let himself flow with whatever was happening. He knew questioning himself will push him back to the darkness he was in for such a long time… so why to question himself at all? His heart was slowly getting lighter and he loved it… but what he didn't realize was his budding attraction towards Geet… well the attraction was always there..but he had never ever given himself a chance to live it. and since now he is going the way life is taking him, he is not realizing that the attraction deeply buried within him for Geet had started to take roots in his otherwise empty heart. In all this, he never failed to remember anisha, share his feelings to that portrait of hers… he was doing everything that he used to, religiously after anisha left her…but something had changed and he didn't know what!
Geet was super duper busy in the office..and since it was her first day at a different branch, she had to attend all the meetings and get to know about her clients and staffs as well. By the time she got free, it was already 5 in the evening. The first thing she did was to call home and speak to the kids. They had been pestering dadima about their angel…inquiring about her whereabouts every 5 minutes. Geet had called the nanny back, who seemed to have gone on a long vacation after Geet came back from Mumbai. She heard all the complains about the nanny by the kids and started laughing. It was like the best time in her office hours…1st day and she found her best time. She felt her tummy rumble..she hadn't had anything the entire day and she didn't have time to either. She had a lot to catch up and she forgot herself in that. She walked out of the office very slowly…totally drained out and famished. She wanted to have something to eat and she hadn't got a chance to eat even a bite of a biscuit. she was too tired to even walk and she tripped over the stone that lay in front of her. and the next moment she knew was being held so protectively.
She opened her eyes to meet his…she didn't understand anything and blinked a couple of times before realization drowned. Her eyes widened AND she jumped back in surprise!
"wh…wh..what are you doing here?", she blurted out.
He arched his brows, "didn't I tell you I'll be picking you up after office? Look at yourself Geet… what have you done to yourself?"
She stilled suddenly… he actually meant those words when she herself had discarded it thinking it just to be a formality. She didn't even realize when he held her hand and made her sit in the car. What was she even thinking? She was probably thought of taking a taxi home…she knew he wouldn't come..but he was actually there.
"Geet..what happened..you okay?"
She was surprised to see him making all the conversations today and she actually felt nice. She smiled and shook her head, "umm..just too tired!!"
"did you eat properly? Your tummy is rumbling badly.. that even I can hear it", he teased. She dipped her head in embarrassment…this was the second time.
"ahh..wo…I was busy in meetings.. time nahi mila…."
He shook his head and stopped in front of a small cafe.
"come on..have something…or else am sure you'll faint before even we reach here!!"
"Maan..mera mazak bana rahe ho???", she bit back.
[Maan..are you making fun of me?]
He opened her side of the door, held her hand and walked her in, "no baba..am just stating the fact…"
If the situation were not this..she'd have definitely pounced over him for teasing her but she was just too touched seeing so much care…she didn't know what she saw in his eyes… he was so mysterious..she had never known. It was always her who knew him inside out..but even then he was mysterious to her. he pulled the chair for her and made her sit. He sat in front of him and passed the menu card, "come on..start ordering…"
She gave him a weak smile and dipped into the menu. She paused her thoughts.. she'd resume once her tummy was full. She giggled at her own thoughts and ordered a whole lot of stuffs…double cheese pizza, garlic bread with white sauce..and..umm…ummm one huge slice of black forest cake. He gaped at her…was she going to eat all that? The waiter came as asked Maan if he wanted to have something. He was full already hearing her order so much but before he could speak, she spoke up, "umm..yes one swiss choco delight and a black coffee for him.."
The waiter smiled and went to get their orders. She saw him looking at her dumbstruck!!!
"what???", she spoke as she gulped down the whole glass of water.
"you remembered??"
It was then she realized what he was speaking about.
"I haven't forgotten anything Maan… not even a single thing.."
He was so awed by her…she still remembers everything about him even after years… she never answered where she went way and why..but her simple simple gestures were enough to tell him that she never ever had forgotten him..and something in him told..she could never forget him even of she wanted…and he was actually proud of it.
She dug into her food like a hungry lioness..boy she was too hungry. He dipped his spoon into his swiss choco delight and relished it slowly, watching her…she was so much into everything..be it with him, his kids… oops he made a mental correction..her daughters!!! That is what she roams around claiming.. and he just couldn't deny that. He was so grateful for giving so much time to kids..time that he could never give. The corners of his eyes burnt… she was doing so much for him…so much and what was he doing? Past incidents flashed in his mind…his snapping at her whenever she tried to do something for him… ignoring her like that in the party and not even speaking to her properly… he felt so bad and so low! She came back..just for him… realization dawned..making him sad yet happy!!! The chocolate dripped down her lips as she took a large bite of her cake into her mouth. He instinctively leaned forward and wiped it from the corner of her lips with his thumb.
That was an earth shattering moment for both of them. She was surprised at his sudden act and gaped at him. He was as confused as her. she was indeed very warm…the skin so soft……her lips so red… he shook his head wondering what was he thinking!!! She saw that confusion on his face..the same that she was dealing with right now. She quickly finished her food while he finished with his coffee. Both stood at the counter as he paid..she remembered something and shouted, "ohh no..i forgot..maan just be here…"
She bit her lips and ran inside. He rolled his eyes..and he knew perfectly..well he didn't know how but e just knew what was in her mind and he wasn't wrong either. She had bought a whole lot of cakes, pastries and cookies for the kids. He sighed and paid for them too. She ran excitedly and sat in the car, waiting for him to come and drive fast. He just couldn't stop smiling and walked to her.
'so how was your day??"
She gave him a cheeky smile, "am sooo happy to get back to my job Maan…." And she went on and on and on telling him everything about what she did and what she didn't…how much she missed being with the kids and the way namra complained about the nanny. Even he started laughing. She ran out the moment he stopped the car in front of the house. She stopped just before entering and turned back. He was out of the car and was walking towards her. he stopped and looked at her..she looked emotional. His eyes questioned her as to what happened when she ran to him and hugged him tight!!
"thank you for giving me my job…. Thanks a lott…"
His mind went back to the moment they had shared in the cafe…he felt his skin burn where he had touched her. he went blank for a while and then saw her running inside the house. He didn't know what to think..or what to feel. He just walked in slowly..ony to see her sitting with the kids, speaking to them. He heard dia complain, "umm..angel angel..nanny ne…nanny ne bola..if you don't eat vegetables..she will…she will l…lock me..in in my room…."
[umm..angel angel… nanny told if I don't eat vegetables she'll lock me in a room]
Geet kissed her cheek, showing fake anger, "really…nanny ne meri princess ko aisa bola??? Kal tho pitai hogi nanny ki…"
[really.. nanny told this to my princess..tomorrow she is going to get a good thrashing]
namrA: han angel..aur aur…usne milk bhi spill kar diya floor pe…
[yes angel..she also spilled milk on the floor…]
Geet; awwieee…nanny ne meri princesses ko pareshaan kiya… uski khair nahi..
[awwieee…nanny irritated my princesses..tomorrow I shall see her]
He shook his head and headed to his room…totally lost in that laughter that echoed the entire house!!! He stood under the cold shower for a long time..and he just didn't know why he couldn't get her warmth off himself. The slight touch…it was so different that the previous times… so tumultuous and so disturbing. He looked at the thumb of his that had touched her..it was still warm. He closed his eyes and ran his finger across his hair… he wasn't sure what he was thinking was right or not..but he did confess that he liked being with her..and he fought back again..he had always liked being with her, and that this was not something new. But in all his confusion, he was unknowingly accepting her effect on his life.
Dadima was more than happy with things getting so much better…especially after the trip to Amritsar. She didn't discuss this with Geet either.. she just didn't want to interfere in their budding relationship making Geet conscious about Maan's advancements. It was almost a month like this… he'd drop her office whenever he was free and get her back too….she'd tell him all about her day…and sometimes work pressure was so much on them that they'd finally end up having snacks/dinner together in a caf/restaurant…and for some unknown reasons both just loved it. dia and namra made the integral part of their togetherness. They never forgot them. If Maan was late he'd bring dinner or anything for everyone in the house. Geet tried to spend as much time as possible with the kids..but it was becoming more and more tiring day after day.
Everything was changing for Maan. He didn't know what..but evenings with her actually made him open up more to her. he spoke about his ventures..his work.. his office..and she listened to all of them carefully, never missing out anything.
Geet finally decided on taking a holiday for a day or two and relax a bit…she had been wanting to spend some time with the kids for a long time. They had their exams coming too. It was early morning..the first day of her holiday… and she just wanted to workout a bit. She changed into her tracks and tank top, took her ipod and walked towards the gym.
