^You won't believe it. This film was obviously offered to Shahrukh. 🥱
Watch it become the surprise hit of the year.

I agree..apparently SRK was the first choice..he loved the script and everything but didn't revert back..so then he approached arshad:)
Shah Rukh Khan to don the lawyer's garb for his forthcoming film, Jolly LLB; Akshay Kumar's best friend Rakesh Upadhyay will co-produce it.
For the first time, Shah Rukh Khan will play a lawyer in writer/director Subhash Kapoor's film, Jolly LLB. This film will be produced by SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment in association with Rakesh Upadhyay, who is a close aide of SRK's closest competitor, Akshay Kumar. The film, which is based on a lawyer's life, will be an expose on the judiciary system. Subhash had earlier directed a film on cricket Say Salaam India with Sanjay Suri, Vinay Pathak and Sandhya Mrudul.
Talking about SRK's association with Rakesh, our source said, "Rakesh and SRK have been discussing various subjects for the past few months. SRK particularly liked this theme. If all goes well, the film will be on the floors by next year."
Excited by the prospect of working with SRK, Subhash Kapoor said, "The film will take on the pros and cons of the judicial system. When we first had an appointment with SRK, he had given us about 45 minutes for the narration. However, we ended up discussing the film for over two hours. He took to the film in the first 20 minutes itself. He loved the film immensely. The film's producer Rakesh Upadhyay is finalising the other details."
When asked if SRK will co-produce the film, Rakesh Upadhyay said, "We have been talking about working together for a long time and this is the subject that we have zeroed in on. It is too early to say anything; we will make a formal announcement when everything is in place."
Worth the wait. Aint it
Well, not long ago, i stared with disbelief at the first graphic of TWM, and deja vu it is today. With Jolly LLB release around the corner, its great to see the final vision shape up and everybody's hard work accredited at the end of the day. Day? oh! 2 years it is, but like i said, its worth the wait. And patience is the keyword. In exactly about a month from now, JOLLY LLB music will be out there for everyone to hear, but this one surely is music of a different kind. Atleast to me. This theatrical trailer end credit plate may not mean much but it summarizes a whole journey of emotions. For the entire team.
Its true that the feeling of anything first can never be replicated but it feels just another first for me. Last time like a silly boy, i remember visiting the biggest billboard of TWM in mumbai at 2 am in the morning with Aanand and Himanshu, the night they were put up. I stood under it some good many minutes trying to fathom everything. And today after we finished working on the our promo to come on air from 8th (Yup watch out), I said to myself, here we are again. Everything best that had to be done, or we thought so is over. And now all there is left for us to see is how we fare in a few days. So i shall bring you the trailer here soon. Keep smiling.
This movie sounds a lot like Munnabhai MBBS. Trust SRK to do Ra1 rather than a simple film like this one.

Yep, I found an article from way back in 2009 about SRK signing this film. But then I guess he got too busy with Ra.One/Don 2 and was like eff it. 🥱 Anyways, Arshad suits the role perfectly :)

I agree..The bigger the actor the more difficult it is for him to let go of the star and play the character of the movie..i think akshay does it to an extent(if the special 26 trailers are anything to go by)...but people like paresh rawal, arshad warsi, boman irani, manoj bajpai, irfan khan, nawaz siddique, pankaj kapur, naseerudin shah are gems..and so underutilized!
