Rajshree productions made critically/small budget films that were not as successful. Maine Pyaar Kiya worked and everyone's fate got changed. And it wasn't really due to the debut film but films thereafter. How many remember Kumar Gaurav--son of legendary actor Rajendra Kumar who hit jackpot with a film like "love story" but then could not sustain the successful period.

On the topic, BW is incomplete without the three Khans--they have each given something unique to film fraternity.

Kumar Gaurav got a Dream Debut with Love Story...post that he never made an mark presenc ein any of his Movies...Naam was there but that wa smore of Sanjay Dutt movie then Kumar Gaurav...

But I know millions of non-Indians who know only that one particular Khan from the whole of Bollywood.

Thats true for many actors like Amitabh, Dharmendra, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand as well.. Infact in Malaysian weddings its common to hear songs from Jeetendra movies..

Well I've been to Malaysia and trust me, there's nobody more popular than Shahrukh there. The taxi driver had a CD called best of Srk playing, the waiter sang Chaiyya Chaiyya for us and so on.

I totally agree about the humongous craze of SRK among malays, but the point is it didnt start with SRK. Malays have 'always' loved stars from bolly and SRK is their latest fad. I can say this coz I live with malays around.

I would have never imagined Bollywood without the khans!
I think 80% of the credibility to make Bollywood what it is today goes to them!
Especially after the 90's!

As I'd said in posts on previous pages. Those who think No Khans, no Bollywood or they made Bollywood are either not much aware of past accomplishments of yesteryear stars or do not even want to look up anything beyond Khans. Extreme statements are order of the day it seems. Maybe decades later the fans of that era's stars will assert there's no Bollywood without stars of that (future) era.

Partly it's media to blame for lack of facts in discussions around cinema. Most reports are PR kind of stuff with statements like "never seen before in history" though writers themselves don't bother about history. These days, with advent of internet, fans also write their own history (review, analysis of career) to boost their star. Actual facts and authentic history gets submerged because yesteryear Bollywood has no one to speak for its accomplishments.

I agree with you, i forgot to mention the end of the 80's & the beginning of the 90's marked the beginning of the khan era! I think they were successful successors to the yesteryear actors like Dilip ji, Amit ji & Rajesh khanna!
They successfully carried the genre forward & they should be appreciated for that!
