I don't see any reason why people make a big deal of Yash Chopra heroines. He never really made heroines special. What was special about Raakhee in Kabhi Kabhi? Or even Neetu Singh in same film? He mostly chose good looking women in his so called epic films (those were mainly rejected deals in those times when they released) like Silsila, Lamhe. Only DTPH, Darr and Veer Zaara were successful.
He was clever enough to pick heroines only in their prime and not when they were raw newbies. By then heroines would also become seasoned and learn how to look better.
Madhuri's feminity was presented much better in HAHK than DTPH. Aishwarya was fine in HDDCS. She didn't need Yash Chopra. Karishma's best moments as a woman have come from Raja Hindustani, Fiza and Zubeida.
Katrina or Anushka were nothing special in JTHJ. So much for special treatment of Yash Chopra heroine!
I think actresses did not need to depend on Yash Chopra to present them as beautiful or women in all their glory.
