International Human Rights: Universally entitled to every human being

December 10 is celebrated as the International Human Rights Day across the world. Political conferences, cultural events and exhibitions related to human rights issues take place around the world. Know what our leading characters have to say on this day.

Sandhya

Human rights are the fundamental rights to which all human beings are entitled. It is given to us by virtue of the fact that we are human beings. It is on this day that the United Nations Prize for Human Rights and Nobel Peace Prize are conferred. Special events commemorate the day. On this day, I wish peace and progress for all of us.

Viraat

Many social events take place around the world. This day marks the struggle of issues related to the basic needs and privileges of every human being. We need to conquer poverty and famine. We as human beings should contribute in however small way we can towards the betterment of our fellow beings.

Pankhuri

Charity begins at home, it is said. But more than that, we need to understand each other's needs, respect them and ensure that we don't tread on other's basic rights. It is our duty to tackle the human rights issues endangering our lives. We are obliged by birth to take part in each other's and hence our society's progress.

Gauri

If we join forces, we can achieve poverty eradication. It amazes me to see that India being such a diverse country, faces such divisive societal structure. Poverty is so marked here, I feel we all need to get together to eradicate this grave concern from our country.

Aditya

Human rights are an intrinsic part of our existence. All of us are entitled to the basic necessities of life. But sadly not all are fortunate but there are human rights organisations working towards this. We should extend our help in whatever way we can contribute towards resolving the concerns facing us.

Thanks for sharing. Two people in the Rathi mansion require urgent lessons on human rights. One is Vikram who is guilty of domestic violence and does not hesitate to hit his wife to save his skin. The other is Bhabo , who is the only one in the Rathi mansion who can speak and dictate and others are expected to hear and follow. For them it is only duties no rights. India may be the second largest democracy in the world, but in the Rathi mansion in Pushkar it has been dictatorship for decades with no human rights in sight.
