Hello 😛

I'm back with a discussion...

'I dont think the audience would pay their hard- earned cash to try and watch a fat slob on screen'

Yeh main ne nahin, koi aur ne kaha hai... (it was published in the local newspaper's bite into it section)😳

Kis ne kaha? 🤔

Actor Abhishek Bachan ne...

He said this on the pressure to be brawny....

Soooo well is this true?

Lets discuss...

1. Is this quote true?
2. Why are we soo superficial that we only want to watch some thin person act
3. Why are looks given more importance compared to acting ability?
4. What is more important to you and why?

Please also include any other comments that u think is appropriate..😊

Have fun discussing...

Love
Sneha 😛

First of all,I think Abhishek has been misconstrued..a slob is basically a person who is untidy, sloppy, mannerless and rude, isnt it🤔..and "fat" is just a redundant word, usually people use the word slob along with a "fat",just to express their discontent lol...So basically, hypothetically,if I'm annoyed with someone, and if the person happens to be on the heavier side,I'd say "that fat slob"...I dont think it was meant in a derogatory way..anyways,this was just my perception😊

Now if he indeed meant that fat girls are not on the ball, then here are my two cents on it

Its true though, we expect celebrities to be stunning and gorgeous. Who have a lot of money and wear designer clothes.

I concur....I would want a celebrity to look a million bucks, that person has to stand out,and has to be several notches above normal people in looks and in persona😃

I pay money to get entertained, and I want to see larger than life people, not just run of the mill mediocres romping about and calling it "performance"...I can watch a balaji serial or a street play for that..When I pay $$$ for a ticket,It should be my money's worth

Now that the release of Dhoom 2 is in the offing,I would surely be paying my $$$ to watch a Hot Hrithik,Abhi and Ash in dhoom 2....Not to watch a flabby Smrithi or a flabby Mona dancing to the tune of Dhoom Machale🤢..I am paying for wholesome entertainment, and I wouldnt be wanting to watch flabby slobs like the television stars🤢

I am a secure person and don't get jealous of celebrities so i want the actresses to have the best body and look out of this world. I mean if i want to see a behenji type, I would go to my local gurdwara.

I want them to drive expensive cars and live a lavish lifestyle.

Yeah, and isnt that what is called "larger than life".The essence of these movies is that they for 3 odd hours completely take us on a dream voyage...

Portrayal of larger than life characters is what catapults these actors into superstars..SRK's character of Raj in DDLJ was larger than life,so was Big B's in Zanjeer,so was hrithik's in the second half of KNPH ......

Its all a fantasy, and that's precisely what we pay for and when we're paying,I want to watch the best.....I prefer to watch Hrithik pull off dangerous stunts rather than watching a Mihir Virani or a Jai Walia pull it off ... I agree with the fact thatthe secure girls wouldnt feel jealous of a stunning Ash ..

I certainly prefer the movies with larger than life characters,I do not wish to watch movies which seem like documentaries..I could as well watch a real documentary if I so want to watch it

Sry2say but they're stars they should keep in shape specially when they get paid millions. They should be presentable in public.

Also, i don't find many Bollywood guys to be hot but i also expect them to work out and do some grooming. Sry2say but many Bollywood male actors look like they haven't showered in days.

Oh my,I've have first hand knowledge of how fans defend supersized actresses, saying that they are just "healthy"..heck,a star fairly or unfairly doesnt have the privilege to be "healthy"....Either knock off those extra pounds,or else quit the buisness...

Flab != curves ...Beyonce's curvy, not people like Mona Singh and Rani Mukherjee

and Barring a very few,no bollywood actor is really all that hot...People easily cry foul that Hollywood doesnt acknowledge the work they do,but when Hollywood's yardstick is established by very very good movies,a run of the mill bollywood movie wouldnt seem all that......

Actors like Shahid,Kareena,Rani,Ajay Devagan,SRK(who's an overhype),Salman,ABhishek etc may seem like colossal stalwarts to us,But internationally, they are just nothing, and this is the "karwi sach"...

don't get me started on TV actors/actresses. Whenever I see behind the scenes pictures of them (barring some like Neha Bamb she is stunning) I cringe! They wear the most tacky and horrid clothes. Most of them look stoned/drunk at TV parties and look worse than C-list celebs.

HEHE,that's so true...The TV lot(barring some) are the most undignified one can lay one's eyes on...They blow the most trivial issues out of proportion, stoop to any levels just to garner some publicity, and wouldnt mind cashing in on ANYTHING,just to be written about and just to hog the limelight(Iqbal's example can be cited..He was denied a visa, something every Asian has to face, and made a huge hullabaloo out of it)..and the clothes they don are hideous, and they all look tipsy at the parties..Its seems as though these havent seen food and drink for months together, that they go the whole hog at parties🤢

Yes,Hrithik and Aishwarya are the only two who have got it all...Looks,the right body, and more importantly, the right attitude towards work...Because No Hollywood director would offer a movie only because a certain actress calls him an "uncle",and fawns over him...and out there, the lineage crap doesnt work..

Bollywood is more of a fluke, every star kid(even the undeserving ones like Esha Deol and Tusshar Kapoor) can make a debut easily....The only star kid,who really worked towards becomming an actor was Hrithik..He worked on everything, right from his voice,to his body,to his character....and besides,he had the god given look and the height....

its not healthy to be overweight. Plus India doesn't have stick thin actresses who look anorexic.

Yeah,India doesnt have the Keira Knightleys and the Nicole Kidmans who are just all skin and bone....But healthy actresses, provided they religiously work out,can get the toned look..Its not all that hard to be thin, but it requires alot of work, alot of gymming....and When these people get paid in millions,is it really that hard to hit the gym everyday and be in shape😕....Afterall,its healthy too

Arre sheen,SRK's short, and he's way overhyped..and I dont think Hollywood would treat him the same way bollywood does...SRK aint all that good looking, and Aamir's too short!

Abhishek needs to shave.Period!and as much as I might like Abhi,he's sadly not international...Hrithik takes his work more seriously, something that even Abhishek admits to...Hrithik has the international look,so does Ash...But ABhi...ummmm...I'm afraid not!

ANyways sheen, this was just my views 😊

Very nice topic, sneha! 👏

Here are my thoughts:

I read all the replies here and there are some views i agree on and some that i don't. Firstly i don't think that 'fat' is totally not acceptable. look acting is a talent and its not only abt looks. yes i agree that fat can limit the success of a person but if that person has talent that i don't think anything can stop him/her. Sometimes controlling your weight is in your hand and sometimes its not so you can't always blame a person if he/she is overweight as obesity is caused by various disorders and diseases too.

Also it depends on what is your defination of 'fat', 'chubby' or curvy and this defination differs frm person to person. For instance i didn't find rani at all fat in KANK.

I also fail to understand why this obsession with hollywood? why is the worth of every actor measured based on how much he or she can bank in the hollywood? I am not saying that bolly films don't need to do good in holly but why can't the indians judge their actors or actresses? why do we want the hollywood to judge them?

I don't find SRK short or overhyped. He has worked his way there. It hasn't been a bed of roses for him. He has worked hard to deserve the success he has achieved today. I agree that there are better actors then him too but that doesn't mean that srk isn't a good actor! SRK is an awesome actor too! and also it all depends on personal choices so i know i can't change anyones opinion abt anyone. Maybe amir khan is short but does that affect his acting? Does that make him less of the excellent actor that he is? I mean why do we have to be obessed with looks. I know that looks do matter but sometimes its not ONLY looks but the talent along with it too that matters.

though i don't find amir or srk at all short but even if they were, does that make them less of good actors? Did they ask God for the height that they have? Was there anyway they could have 'increased' their height? Then what should a person with somewhat short height do? Should a person with immence talent be kept frm becoming an actor just coz they are 'short'? How does tht make sense and that simply displays how narrow minded we are that we can overlook great telent just coz the person is a little overweight or is short? 😕

Yes i agree that not may people would pay to watch a good actress but i just want to ask that isn't time that we broaden our outlook a bit? A face is a gift of God that everyone has so what should we do? outcast the people from bollywood who have bad faces? Come on guys...how would u feel if u are an ace painter but they refuse to give u fame just cozu are ugly? Isn't it time we stop giving out all our judgements after looking at the face or body? Why limit ourselfs? why do injustice to the person by limiting out judgements just to looks? Isn't talent/acting skills etc a thing worth considering too?

Yes i believe that ash and hrithik are extremly good actors with good looks to match but that doesn't mean that i believe that srk, susmita, rani, preity, amir, abhi etc are any less of good actors and why do we have to choose them according to how well they will fare in the holly? aren't indian actors supposed to represent the indian identity abroad? so why do we have to insist that indian actors change themselves to make themselves look according to hollywood and its ways so that THEY are accepted there? then where is the originality of indian faces lost in all these attempts to fit into hollywood?

Pls take no offence anyone as this opinion is very much general 😊
