yeh, of course, with the actresses especially. but i'm surprised, hema malini was "fat" by today's standards and she was a big hit...but if you look at heroines now...who's "fat"?
2. Why are we soo superficial that we only want to watch some thin person act
LoL, well this world is a superficial place. jo dikhta hai wohi bikta hai. Although NOT true for many things...if the person can act, one tends to look over their flabbiness..like Amjad Khan. but then again, i cant think of any1 recent...Kajol's normal i guess.
3. Why are looks given more importance compared to acting ability?
well this is esp. the case with heroines...you dont need acting ability, just need a "doll face"...like AISH really. But then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...but seriously, in the end, one does NEED to know acting. i mean, you can only watch a pretty face for so long

4. What is more important to you and why?
as it is, if the guy/girl acts good i start likin them. with the whole looks thing, ive matured. thank god. before i never thought that Amir was hot, but after RDB and Fanaa where he was great...i never thought Abhishek was hot until Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, where he saved that disaster...so really, i'm glad that i'm not superficial anymore. *sigh of relief* 😆

First of all,I think Abhishek has been misconstrued..a slob is basically a person who is untidy, sloppy, mannerless and rude, isnt it🤔..and "fat" is just a redundant word, usually people use the word slob along with a "fat",just to express their discontent lol...So basically, hypothetically,if I'm annoyed with someone, and if the person happens to be on the heavier side,I'd say "that fat slob"...I dont think it was meant in a derogatory way..anyways,this was just my perception😊

Now if he indeed meant that fat girls are not on the ball, then here are my two cents on it

I concur....I would want a celebrity to look a million bucks, that person has to stand out,and has to be several notches above normal people in looks and in persona😃

I pay money to get entertained, and I want to see larger than life people, not just run of the mill mediocres romping about and calling it "performance"...I can watch a balaji serial or a street play for that..When I pay $$$ for a ticket,It should be my money's worth

Now that the release of Dhoom 2 is in the offing,I would surely be paying my $$$ to watch a Hot Hrithik,Abhi and Ash in dhoom 2....Not to watch a flabby Smrithi or a flabby Mona dancing to the tune of Dhoom Machale🤢..I am paying for wholesome entertainment, and I wouldnt be wanting to watch flabby slobs like the television stars🤢

You are completely right it is the looks and the acting i go for but the looks sometimes alone will lure me in😳😆

Here are my thoughts:

I read all the replies here and there are some views i agree on and some that i don't. Firstly i don't think that 'fat' is totally not acceptable. look acting is a talent and its not only abt looks. yes i agree that fat can limit the success of a person but if that person has talent that i don't think anything can stop him/her. Sometimes controlling your weight is in your hand and sometimes its not so you can't always blame a person if he/she is overweight as obesity is caused by various disorders and diseases too.

Also it depends on what is your defination of 'fat', 'chubby' or curvy and this defination differs frm person to person. For instance i didn't find rani at all fat in KANK.

I also fail to understand why this obsession with hollywood? why is the worth of every actor measured based on how much he or she can bank in the hollywood? I am not saying that bolly films don't need to do good in holly but why can't the indians judge their actors or actresses? why do we want the hollywood to judge them?

I don't find SRK short or overhyped. He has worked his way there. It hasn't been a bed of roses for him. He has worked hard to deserve the success he has achieved today. I agree that there are better actors then him too but that doesn't mean that srk isn't a good actor! SRK is an awesome actor too! and also it all depends on personal choices so i know i can't change anyones opinion abt anyone. Maybe amir khan is short but does that affect his acting? Does that make him less of the excellent actor that he is? I mean why do we have to be obessed with looks. I know that looks do matter but sometimes its not ONLY looks but the talent along with it too that matters.

though i don't find amir or srk at all short but even if they were, does that make them less of good actors? Did they ask God for the height that they have? Was there anyway they could have 'increased' their height? Then what should a person with somewhat short height do? Should a person with immence talent be kept frm becoming an actor just coz they are 'short'? How does tht make sense and that simply displays how narrow minded we are that we can overlook great telent just coz the person is a little overweight or is short? 😕

Yes i agree that not may people would pay to watch a good actress but i just want to ask that isn't time that we broaden our outlook a bit? A face is a gift of God that everyone has so what should we do? outcast the people from bollywood who have bad faces? Come on guys...how would u feel if u are an ace painter but they refuse to give u fame just cozu are ugly? Isn't it time we stop giving out all our judgements after looking at the face or body? Why limit ourselfs? why do injustice to the person by limiting out judgements just to looks? Isn't talent/acting skills etc a thing worth considering too?

Yes i believe that ash and hrithik are extremly good actors with good looks to match but that doesn't mean that i believe that srk, susmita, rani, preity, amir, abhi etc are any less of good actors and why do we have to choose them according to how well they will fare in the holly? aren't indian actors supposed to represent the indian identity abroad? so why do we have to insist that indian actors change themselves to make themselves look according to hollywood and its ways so that THEY are accepted there? then where is the originality of indian faces lost in all these attempts to fit into hollywood?

Pls take no offence anyone as this opinion is very much general 😊

Naina

I guess I agree with u di, it's is not always being fat i mean Rani we don't ever notice because her acting is so great as u pointed out Naina di, like in films i do not suddenly poin out when they looks fat as their acting is usually very good so I guess it is half way but yes sometimes looks will always win😆

1. Is this quote true?

true, it is. 😆

2. Why are we soo superficial that we only want to watch some thin person act?

well, usually if ur a star u will have to potray a certian image for the audiences, we watch these stars onscreen because we feel tt they are more genetically blessed with good looks and figures. 😆

we admire them and idolise them cos we feel they are more perfect than us. 😆 there is nothing wrong when ur fat in hollywood, pple still accept you and even shower u with praise and awards. 😆 😆

but in asian cinema, it has always been a problem. these stars are supposed to portray a more healthier image. but they all look like they are starving themselves. 😆 😆 not everyone can be as slim like a priyanka or an ash. 😆 😆

different people have different bodies, expecting all the stars to be slim is unfair. u should see some of the horrible fad diets tt these stars indulge in. 🤢 as far as i am concerned, whether u look good or not, depends on ur confidence level. 😉

3. Why are looks given more importance compared to acting ability?

cinema is very much a visual media, 😉 which means tt appearances play a more impt part than acting talents. 😆 if not can u explain on why john abraham is more popular than ajay devgan? 😆 😆 😆 *no offence*

4. What is more important to you and why?

of cos. it's acting ability. 👏 my idols have always been pple like ajay devgan and sunil shetty. actors, not models. 😉 guys like ajay devgan will be remembered in the future for his acting abilites. 👍🏼 who needs a flash in the pan like john abraham? 😆 😆 who'll probably be replaced in a few years by another budding model with bulging muscles? 😆 😆

it's sad tt these model turned actors have the looks, but absloutely zilch substance. 🤔

not starting an argument or anything. here' my view on ur post. 😉

it's actually because they are good looking tt they have the excuse to hid their bad acting. for me at least. true, i also feel tt good looking actors/ actresses have more pressure in performing well, becos pple usually type cast them as a flower vase.😆 looking good but empty on the inside.😆 it's time tt they proved their critics wrong, but it's seems tt there is still lots of room for improvement when it comes to good looking pple acting. 😆

unglamourous pple seem to perform better. why? maybe it's cos they know they aren't going to get any fans if they just pose. the focus on acting is therefore more serious. thus all these 'unglamorous' pple do outperfrom good looking stars. 😉 when you're 'unglamorous', u will most likely focus more on acting instead of choosing which shade of eyeshadow goes well with ur costume. 😆

I think the statement is true well kind of...

But.... U dont only need a gud body or face, u need to know how to act as well.... Like look at all da newcomers they have gud body n face but their acting skillz suck.. N no wonder they dont get any movie.

N Aish doesnot know how to act but Hrithik does. 😉 😆
