Take a glimpse at JP Dutta's magnum opus 'Umrao Jaan' and you'll understand why the world swears by her beauty. She is looking absolutely stunning and mesmerising in the promos that are on air, once again proving that she is the ideal choice of this periodic film, as JP Dutta claims.
JP Dutta's 'Umrao Jaan' is not a remake of the Muzzaffar Ali's film starring Rekha but is his adaptation of Ruswa's famous Urdu novel Umra-O-Jaan-E-Ada written in the 19th century published in the year 1899. The novel has been the source of inspiration for directors of many generations which has provoked them to make a film on the life of the legendary character of Umrao Jaan time and again. 'Zindagi aur Toofan', 'Mehendi' and Muzzaffar Ali's version are some of the films that has been attempted before. J P Dutta's father O P Dutta in the 50's started writing the script of Umrao Jaan and began making the film starring Nimmi, but could never complete the venture. J P Dutta pays an ode to his father's dream through this film.
