I liked the movie but ONLY in bits and pieces. All they were showing was negative aspects of religion, of the religious saints which I found highly biased. There are always two sides to a coin. Likewise, in every field, there is always good and bad. Like if there are corrupt saints, there are also many many number of good saints. Like say Shankaracharya of Kanchi peeth spends crores of rupees in hospitals, for education and what not and same for Kripaluji. They showed the Shivji milk part which I found highly disrespectful even though the msg they were trying to pass was nice but they can't pass it as a judgment to not chadhao milk at all. And they can't say it as a fact either that in all Shivtemples such happens. If anyone has visited Dwarka, a few kms away from the Rukmani temple, there is a Shivji temple which does collect the milk and gives it to the children around there.
I saw the movie bcoz I saw ppl loving it and wanted to give an honest chance before giving my opinion but In my very personal opinion, I did find the movie showing only negative for most part.

Paresh Rawal's acting was excellent though needless to say!

^^ I do agree with your post in disrespecting the religion and the saints, but I was happy that they tried to show lot of flaws in our current thinking like not all temples collect milk and distribute it to the children and imagine the number of temples that we have in the world( there's almost a temple for every street) where they do these Abhisheka's with Milk, ghee, honey etc on a daily basis...Why can't they donate the same milk to orphanage's, old age homes or disabled beggars etc..

And the recent news about( not clear on this exactly but) Balaji temple in tirupathi got new saree/dhoti which is worth crores and is made with pure gold or something...really what would lord Balaji do with thatšŸ˜•šŸ˜•

Also about Saints there are so many dhongi baba's right now and really bothers me how easily they can make us fools forget about people who are uneducated but I have seen well educated people following them like anything and donating thousand's of dollars to them, why can't they believe in charity or doing good rather than encouraging these kind of baba's from flourishing (again its not my money they are donating but I am just sad that people aren't thinking humanely)..

Yes, ofcourse they can collect the ghee milk etc chadhaoed to the Shivlinga or other idols and give to the poor people.. agreed with that. BUT the movie trying to say that whats the NEED of doing that is what I do not agree with. It's like they're almost trying to shove it down that dont do it at all. I found that disrepsectful of one's faith and for the reasons such abhisheks, pujas are done. It is part of Hindu culture IMO, people who want to do it should do it and it shouldn't be looked down upon. And alongside that, it should be collected and given away too. That's the opinion I hold.
As for Lord Balaji.. We buy clothes too for ourselves. As expensive as we want. So, if we want to dress our God like we dress ourselves then what's wrong in it? It brings happiness to us cuz we're doing it for our God with our money. Like people on this forum say, "it's an actor's money, he can do whatever he wants with it.. Its his hard earned money so why should he donate it" and all those kinds of opinions.
So why the difference here? The person who donated it, its his money. He wants to dress up his God nicely, his faith and his belief. Nor do we know the persons donating don't donate to poor.
Also I'm not sure if you know but the money and whatever other is donated to Lord Tirupati is collected in their trust.. With that money, the brahmins living their, their house is run, a lot of girls are given education, and also get married with that same money. Many hospitals are donated that money. A lot of bhog is made everyday in large quantities and given away to the poors outside the temple and to other ppl. But I don't see anyone knowing about this positive side really or getting happy about it. Cause I don't think people even know about it much. Like I said, these days mostly the negative aspect is shown more. I am not saying there isn't negative side. But that its ONLY negative is what I don't find right. And that's what the movie was about for most part hence me finding it biased.

Oh and as for dhongi babas and all, its the fault of both such babas and the people. I find them ridiculous. šŸ˜† But again, as I said, that I do agree with it but I'm also trying to say there STILL do exist a lot of good saints too. 😊 that's all. Not denying the former part.

Don't remember if Paresh said what's the need but as far as I recollect he hurts him to see that all the milk going into the sewer when there are so many beggars in front of siddhi vinayak temple...
And I do agree there are lot of temples everywhere that waste so much, rather I would like to see them dropping off those things at one of the places where its needed...
Also if someone wants to do the abhisheka do it but also collect it (only if possible without contaminating it) or do it on a small idol..

I guess its your way of looking at the things in the case of gifting god with expensive clothes but I still can't come to peace with it...But hey I respect your opinion😊

Also I knew some charity work that Tirupathi temple does but good to know they do all these too...
But IMHO this movie was really close to the reality of the current times...

@ILoveDrama: I understand what you're trying to say. I mean while posting also I knew that I am probably having the most different view from everyone else here and was a little scared too while posting but just had to post my two cents too as I felt its okay if I felt differently towards a certain movie. 😳 I respect your views too even though I may not agree with all of it. I'm just glad you conversed with me nicely and didn't tell me off as if I was a blind religious fanatic who was posting. It's hard to find people disagreeing but still respecting such a different opinion(like mine was) so that was very nice of you. I liked having this small chat with you! 😊 😳

Same here dear😊 Loved this chat...So what if you have a different view from majority still you have every right and don't let the fear of being looked down let you from voicing your opinion😃
