Priya Arya is furious with the creative team of Ek Ladki Anjaani Si for not fulfilling their promise as far the portrayal of her character in the serial is concerned. When Priya, who was roped in to play the role of Urmi, a dhaba owner, tried to talk to the creative heads, Misha Gautam and Hana, about the issue, but they ignored her.
"When I was approached for Ek Ladki…, I was told that it is a role opposite Mohnish Behl and that it will develop as the negative lead. Initially, it was all fine. However, after a few weeks I didn't see my character growing. They then told me it had been decided that my character wouldn't turn negative as the current track was working fine. I was shocked, because I had been promised a negative lead and the character was developing neither into a negative one, nor into a lead," said Priya.
Thereafter, whenever Priya tried to contact Misha and Hana, she was ignored. "Not knowing the future of my character, I was forced to call the channel representative. He said that my character was never planned to be a negative lead. I felt insulted," said Priya.
When the producers asked her to give additional dates for the serial, Priya said she was again shown a rosy picture. "However, by then I had lost all faith in them and refused," said Priya.
Priya has another grouse: "While I was doing Ek Ladki…, I was offered a role in Akela. But I was not allowed to sign the project. They just weren't ready to accommodate my dates. It's my loss, I lost both the projects. Worse was the fact that even my cheque was delayed. I got it only after following up with them for a month. It's sad that I had to fight for my hard-earned money."
When contacted, Misha, co-producer and creative head said, they could not focus on Priya and Mohnish's track because Shakti Anand and Kanchi Kaul's track was getting ignored. "In a daily serial one can't plan too much in advance. For example, we never planned Mohnish's character's death but we had to kill his character as per the story's demands. And is far payment is concerned, a little delay is not an issue. Even our cheques sometimes get delayed from the channels," said Misha.
