Part 5
Seeing Riya in that state had broken the hearts of all the team members but gradually, all of them came back to their senses. Rathode was the first one to recover. He motioned for Chotu to bring a glass of water and Shree went with him because he was really upset on seeing his best friend like that. When Chotu and Shree returned, Arjun pulled back and gave Riya the glass of water. Riya composed herself and then mentally scolded herself for the moment of weakness. "I am sorry sir. Vo sirf ek moment of weakness thi. Dubara nahi hoga!" she said to both Arjun and Rathode. "Nahi Riya. Tum bas ek mushkil time se guzar rahi ho. Tumhe sorry bolne ki zaroorat nahi hai. Aur phir, tum to meri behen jaisi ho. Main khush hoon ki tumne apne man ko thoda halka kiya. It's good. Ab tumhe aage badne main aasaani hogi. Vaise bhi, hum sirf tumhare seniors aur co-leagues hi nahi balki ye humaari apni ek choti si family hai!" "Thank you sir!" Riya smiled. Arjun saw the smile but knew that Riya was still hurt and the smile was half-hearted. It did not reach her eyes. At the very moment, the alarm set on Shree's mobile phone rang and they all left.
They all went in a single car because it just had to be parked in the parking lot of the airport to be picked up by the police department later. As usual, Arjun and Rathode sat in the front and Shree, Chotu and Riya at the back. Usually, this kind of seating plan always irritated Arjun and Rathode to their limits but today, because of Riya's unhappiness, Chotu and Shree were also upset, resulting in silence and this saddened Arjun. He was so used to the joking at the back that now the silence was torturing him. Nevertheless, they made to the airport before Arjun going insane. They passed the check-ins and got their boarding passes. When they boarded their plane, they sat on their respective seats. Shree, Chotu and Rathode were together on the three middle seats and Arjun and Riya were together on the left side of the place on the double seats.
During the whole flight, Arjun noticed that Riya was just staring out of the window, lost in her own world. He wanted her to talk. He hated the silence and missed the Riya who would keep on blabbering. His mind flew over the last two days. He thought about the open Riya and the closed Riya. He remembered all the times he had told Riya off for her childish attitude. He compared the two Riya's and without a doubt, he preferred the old Riya than to this new one. Suddenly, he jolted back to reality. Why was he thinking about Riya? He remembered all the incidents related to Riya. Her smile, her innocence, her mischief. "Ye mujhe kya ho raha hai?" He closed his eyes in frustration. He saw Riya smiling her dimpled smile and felt at peace. A truth dawned upon him and he understood the reason behind his feelings. He remembered his dead wife and immediately felt guilty. Then, he saw Roshni coming towards him. She was smiling just said, "Arjun, please move on!" and disappeared. Arjun woke up with a start.
While on the other hand, Riya was thinking about her past two relationships. Raj, an ex, who had broken up with her because he was 'bored' of her. She had really liked Raj and probably would have fallen in love in the future. She was heartbroken when he had ditched her. Then Aditya had come along. He had been perfect. They shared the same likes and dislikes. He had been like the prince charming of fairy tales. She had fallen for him after only days of meeting him and apparently, so had he. Little had she known that what was colourful on the outside was black on the inside! She had been horrified when she had found him in the arms of another woman. She had found out about it a week ago. After recovering from the initial shock, she had not let herself breakdown. She had met him and broken all ties with him. She had turned her hurt into anger but that hadn't stopped her hurt from coming out if the tears at home and in the ETF office were any evidence. But she was not going to let love rule her life now. Whenever she had given in to love, she had received hurt in return. Now her life would not be ruled by love. She would destroy every feeling of love in her. She made this pact with herself and promised herself that now she would never go through the pain of loving and losing because she won't allow herself to fall in love in the first place.
When the plane landed, the ETF went to the guest house they were staying in. they all went to their respective rooms to rest. They were meeting the next morning to begin the investigation. Rathode told them to rest completely and be prepared as they would have to deal with professional criminals here. The next morning, the ETF members met in Rathode's room to go to the CIB cell of Goa. They met the team. It consisted of 3 men and 2 women. The male members were- ACP Ashutosh, senior inspectors Ashish and Daksh. The female members were sub inspectors Sameera and Sanjana. The team was a very friendly one and very hard working too. The CIB and ETF together went to the crime scene and began investigating. The CIB briefed the ETF about their findings until then. Sameera was a bubbly girl- a bit like Riya and Sanjana was the mature one but both were really efficient. Shree and Sameera immediately took a liking to each other. While investigating, Shree, Sameera, Chotu, Riya and Sanjana became friends. Arjun kept looking out for Riya all through the day. Riya was trying to be normal and not think about all the problems and she had done a pretty good job. As the day came to an end, the CIB and the ETF bid good-bye to each other. Shree and Sameera exchanged numbers before saying good-bye. Riya and Chotu teased Shree about Sameera where on the other side, Sanjana didn't let Sameera get off easily either. The team went to the near-by restaurant for dinner and then came back. They said good- night to each other and went to their respective rooms.
