Maybe too early to say this...

This season started on a fantastic note...especially when the singers were allowed to sing in their own genres...

Now after a few episode I am not liking what I am seeing. It is getting too predictable as to who is going to do what and comparing them is becoming impossible. All of a sudden they are all sounding mediocre...

You have 2 singers(Jasraj and the Assam guy) who are more performers than actual good singers...tho Jasraj is good and creative and is worth watching. I cannot say the same about the other guy.

Then you have Madhuri who sings Lata songs. She is never going to be great or even good when compared to Lata and so I think she is a waste of time.

Then you have Harshpreet. She sings or belts the Punjabi style songs. I am tired of Punjabi songs on a Hindi songs show. All the songs sound the same(as I dont understand all the words) with the same loud beat to it. All the songs feel like same tune, same beat, same loudness with different words. Tired of it.

Then you have Renu. She is a good singer and sings/belts away same style songs.

Then you have Jasm. He sings gazals. Again good singer but same style songs. No surprise.

Then you have Shanaz. He is a good singer. Like to listen to him.

The Pakistani singer is OK and feels weak at times.

Loved Mohamed(classical singer). Unfotrunately got eliminated. For the first time saw a young guy wanting to sing this way. Loved his passion for this style of singing and good hearted kid. Did not show off at all like the two performers on the show.

Just dont like the judges. They are not pointing out the mistakes at all as I think every singer had flaws. They are of no use. I dont know the why they are giving scores especially if everybody is going to get a 10 or a nine. Sometimes feels that they are not qualified at all. They are supposed to teach even the audience how to distinguish a good singer from another. I am not liking them at all. I am not liking the people that come to promote their movies on this show. Dont understand the purpose. The special singer judges are too polite to point out the mistakes. Want them to show us how they come up with the eliminations.

So on the whole I am having a lot of dissatisfaction with the show.

Agree with almost everything especially about the judges' comments. I don't know why the channels always think they have to pander to the audience. I think the judges are very knowledgable but the show format doesn't allow them to voice their honest opinions. Some other complaints I have with the judges' comments are:

1)Scoring- Judges should discriminate between different singers. Tell the audience why one is better than the other- not superficially but musically. They shouldn't hesitate in giving lower scores to contestants but it should be done with the above explanation. False encouragement is worse than discouragement.

2)Genres: I feel like judges are more forgiving to singers of some particular genre compared to others. If they choose a format where everyone is allowed to sing within their comfort zone, we as audience should be provided some technical basis for comparing between them.

3) Hyping: Stop with rushing and hugging the contestants every single fricking time. A little dignity wouldn't hurt. Offer praise and criticism with some measure of reserve and serenity.

Eliminations are fine though and I don't really like to complain about them much. The format demands that someone has to go and I don't really care for the long term prospects of any of the contestants because the reality is that we won't hear of them much when the show ends. What I want is that every week I should be able to hear some classy singing and learn something if possible.

Of course, the judges are knowledgeable. it is sad that they dance to the channels tunes. Especially disappointed with SM. He was one person who could have imparted so much to a lay person being so well versed.

I guess, they do not want to share much on TV😆😆

I never had respect for anybody in bollywood except Rafi saheb. Baaqi sab bikaaoo hain chaahe woh Lata ho ya Asha ya RDB ya SM.

No doubt there are some awesome singers this season but I'm disapponted with Judes and creatives.
I was impressed with Rahul Ram in the beginning but he is a total waste. He may be a good engineer from IIT but he doesn't know anything about music.
Judges do not point out mistakes and they failed to guide the contestants. How can you give 10 marks to everyone each time? They have made joke of a quality show.😆
Reenu Nagar, Jasim and Shehnaz are good singers.
I don't agree with TM about his views on Punjabi songs. Anyway thats his opinion and he has a right to speak up his mind.
These days there is hardly any movie where they haven't used Punjabi lyrics, words or music. Yup it is true that if someone doesn't know the language it will sound like same song to them. Punjabi music is very rich and very many Sufi poets wrote in Punjabi language but in Urdu transcript. Datta Ganj, Shek farid, Shah Hussain Lahori, Hashim shah, Bulee Shah, Varis Shah and Guru Nanak was some of the well known names. There are over 250 Raags and Raginies used in punjabi music.
In recent times, NFAK, AFAK, Gulam Ali, Mehdi hassan, Mod Raffi Sahab, Mahinder kappor, Sukhvinder Singh, Gurdass Mann, Aalam Lauhar. Kuldeep manak, Hans raj Hans, Wadali Brots., and Master Salim are some names who started their career in Punajabi singing.

I am gonna use the strong word here "Hate" - I hated last week's episode. The singing was mediocre and judges were over bearing.

I hate the song that Ajay and Sonakshi were promoting from their movie with weird mouth movement...aargh!

To the previous writer about Punjabi songs.

I dont have any problems with Punjabi songs or their poetry. But my problem is their being on Hindi songs show. I like Tamil music and songs and you would not like me to sing these songs on a hindi songs show. You will not enjoy it at all.
