Why does Kareena do the worst films w/ the best?

The Kareena fans on her forum have a saying.

Kareena does the worst films with the best directors, producers, and actors, and in hindsight, it is so true.

She did Ra.One with Shahrukh, while Katrina does a Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

She did a Bodyguard with Salman, while Kat bagged Ek Tha Tiger.

She did a Kambakkht Ishq and Tashan with Akshay, while Kat did Namaste London and the string of hits during their initial days.

(wow, never noticed this patter before, lol)

She did Agent Vinod and Tashan with Saif, while Deepika does Love Aaj Kal and Cocktail with him, Rani and Preity did Hum Tum, Salaam Namaste, Bipz and Kat did Race.

She did Mujhse Dosti Karogi, Yaadein, and Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon with Hrithik, while other actors did Fiza, Agneepath, ZNMD, etc with him.

The trend is the same with directors.

Sriram Raghavan made the super awesome Ek Hasina Thi and critically acclaimed Johnny Gadaar, but with Kareena - Agent Vinod

Madhur Bhandarkar had a pretty impressive track record as well, no matter how much some of us bash his stereotype - Chandni Bar, Page 3, Fashion. But with Kareena, the flawed Heroine.

Not just that, but in the past:

Subhash Ghai - Yaadein, while at the time, Ghai used to make good films like Taal and Pardes.

Sooraj Bharjatia - Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, after successful films like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Hum Saath Saath Hain.

Yash Raj - Tashan and Mujhse Dosti Karogi, while otherwise making films like JTHJ, Band Baaja Baraat, Hum Tum, SN, Veer Zaara, etc.

Dharma - We Are Family, while otherwise making films like Kal Ho Na Ho, Dostana, Agneepath, around the same time!

MPDKH is SO BAD, that its good. That's how bad it is.

Aamir and Ajay though have been good experiences for her in recent times. Golmaal franchise was quite well loved, and Omkara was a masterpiece.

Aamir...well 3 Idiots, so far, so good.

But really, she goofed up big time with Shahrukh and Salman. This is what happens when you gamble based on just production house, banners, and costars.

Surprsingly, the directors that didnt let her down in recent times were some debutantes.

Shakun Batra was very impressive in Ek Main Aurr Ek Tu and extracted a really natural performance from her. Same with Rensil in Kurbaan.

She ditched Kal ho naa ho too which put Preity in a good position with BO and awards wise

But I think Katrina has more star power than Kareena. And Katrina is also more careful about her movies. She knows her limits in terms of acting and dancing and doesn't do anything too crazy. She plays it safe a lot of but hey, she makes the big bucks. Kareena's such a good actress, she should do less out and out commercial movies. Being a show piece doesn't suit her.

She wasn't bad in We Are Family. In fact, I liked her in the film.

Talking about her best films, nothing like JWM till date. Oh, and I loved her in 3 idiots as well.

She wasnt bad, she was good...infact, very good in some portions, very subdued. But the film was such UTTER CRAP

It's because she has horrible script sense. She goes off of---big name, big PH, big banner? Okay awesome, let's do this. Script? Who cares.

But when this is how you do films, you're bound to fall flat on your face most of the time..after all you can get lucky only a few times. What was the last film she signed because of the script? Maybe JWM, but even that it was Shahid who was like you have to do this...but eventually she did, and the result can be seen. It's her career defining role and the one everyone will remember her for.

I won't say Katrina Kaif has the best script sense, or even a good script sense (in terms of actual content in the script) but rather she has a better pulse for understanding what will work with the audience. Of course a lot of it has to do with her own star power also.
