Mumbaikars make a clean sweep of city's beaches

Shaan, all geared up for the event in white T-shirt and green shorts, quickly slipped on his gloves and got into the thick of things at Juhu beach.

He set an example for the volunteers by being the first to pick up the filthy debris lying on the beach.

It was the first time he had seen the beach after a visarjan and the sight saddened him.

"Such clean-up drives should become a part of the celebration itself. It is not a pleasant sight to see the entire beach littered with filth early in the morning," he said.
