Fame Gurukul's hair-raising tales
By: Shaheen Parkar
July 25, 2005

Over the weekend, the participants of the Sony reality show Fame Gurukul, after seeking permission from headmistress Ila Arun, trooped into b:blunt, celeb hairstylist Adhuna Akhtar's salon at Hughes Road.

As part of their date with fame, is a makeover for the 'fame jodi' look. As Akhtar and her team snipped away the tresses for something more trendy and modern, the 10 participants were delighted to have the scissorhands snipping away for a new mane look.

One of the participants Qazi Touqeer, however, refused to have his tresses chopped.

The rest squealed in delight and couldn't stop looking at the mirror. The channel roped in b:blunt for their mane makeover as the salon has a celeb list of clients.

Says Adhuna, "We approached them as we would any of our clients. We take a look at personal lifestyle, natural hair texture and the personality of the individual. We added spice to their hairstyles. As they will be part of the entertainment industry, we gave it a slighty glam, trendy look."

Here are some glimpses of the contestants' hair-raising tales…..

Merawalla Lal: Hairstylist Adhuna Akhtar provided Mumbai mulga Amit Jadhav with a tousled look with red streaks to enhance his looks. Amit, however, certainly did not see red!
Touch me not: Qazi Touqeer from Srinagar refused to have his hair chopped as he feels he already has the mane of a rock star. He only wanted it to be "coloured like Ricky Martin."
Square deal: Anubhav Suman of New Delhi was titled the new Mr Attitude as his square haircut (his words) provided him with attitude.
My name is blonde: Mona Bhatt from New Delhi was given a fashionable look with blonde streaks to accentuate her face
Weight off my head: Mumbai boy Rex D'Souza felt much lighter and now does not feel the need to comb it to keep it in place.

What will they say?: Ruprekha Banerjee from Kolkata felt more confident with her new looks but wondered how her parents would react to it.

Well in reference to Qazi looks don't matter much in Fame Gurukul. Qazi is only concerned about his looks but he is just just horrible with his sur & taal. For God sake why doesn't he realise this & gracefully opt out of Fame Gurukul and do us all a favour.

The person who should not be Fame Gurukul, it is Gurpreet. She should leave the show, first she has no energy level or any sur on the stage. It is like that someone is forcing her to perform. She should had gone 2 weeks ago, I do not know why students voted her and why has faculty saved her. 😡

give qazi a break man, why the hell should he walk out? he was chosen by the faculty and voted by the public thrice, in his last round we saw some decent singing. No he should not walk out but give it his best shot whether he wins or not, I like qazi and so does most of india.

just wanted to add that because of gurpreet we lost a talented singer like kirti, you cant even compare gurpreets and kirtis singing, they are not in the same genre or league at all.
