Life is not only about your happiness, it is also about being happy for somebody else's happiness.
Nobody famous quoted this, it's just my 2 cents after watching Barfi 😆
Finally watched Barfi, the one movie I was extremely anxious to watch and the wait was totally worth it since it blew my mind away. This movie didn't leave me with no choice but to open a thread and share my reaction here. I'm no good with words but this is my honest confession after watching a fiction which touched my heart plus it is rare occasion for me since not many movies have made such major impact in my life.
I have not watched a lot of Indian movies like any of the forum members, nor have I any knowledge in writing reviews. The eagerness took off when I caught glimpse of the trailer and the hype grew as more promos were revealed. Trust me this movie was worth the anxiety, hyper and excitement I had.
Barfi teaches Shruti the simplicity of a complicated life. Jhilmil helps Barfi to realize who and what really matters in life. In the meantime Shruti chains Barfi with Jhilmil for life, forever and almost always!
Being a neutral viewer with no adoration to any of the cast specifically, I am now stunned, shocked and overwhelmed by the work of Anurag, Ranbir, Priyanka and Illeana. I will be devastated if this movie does not win the major awards next year. These people deserve all the awards for their sheer perfection and showing the viewers something worthwhile watching.
A big thank you to Anurag for making such a beautiful yet meaningful movie!
Hats of to Ranbir and Priyanka for taking a risk by straying from commercial cinema and doing something so unconventional. I cannot not imagine anybody else playing Barfi and Jhilmil other than these two.
Illeana defines simplicity. I've no clue who she was until this movie happened and she is a treat to watch as Shruti.
Last but not least, thank you guys for reading my 2 cents. I'm just super hyper on this side after watching this flick. I feel so content and this is by far one of the best Indian movies I've seen after a very long time. I really hope film makers take some hint and make more sensible movies like Barfi.
