Bollywood actresses and second-hand Jawaanis

I watched Sri Devi's English Vinglish (great movie) and recently Aiyya starring Rani. While I liked both comeback films, it just hit me that both these ladies have something in common. During the premier of English Vinglish, there were lots of pics of Sri Devi's family on the red carpet. While Sri Devi looked gorgeous, her - umm "other" half looked 🤢 Don't get me wrong, it is quite normal for a man of his age to look that way but it looked like such a mis-match. How can she even sleep with him without a paper-bag? 😆 Anyways, then I realized that Rani also has a not-so-handsome boyfriend - Aditya Chopra. Now the common link between Rani and Sri - is that they both have a taste for second hand jawaani. Both of their respective partners had a wife and kids from previous marriage.


Thinking about it, off the top of my head I can come up with more actresses who settled for men who already had families.

-Kareena Kapoor : Saif Ali Khan was married to Amrita Singh and they both have 2 kids. One of them is 18 already. She's finally marrying her beau after living with him for years.

-Shlipa Shetty: Raj Kundra left his wife and kids for her. He doesn't seem as bad look-wise compared to what other bolly actresses settled for.

-Vidya Balan: UTV CEO Sidharth Kapur had a family before dating Vidya.

-Ran Mukherjeei: Aditya Chopra went against his family (Yash Chopra did not approve) to be with Rani after he left his wife and kids.

-Sri Devi: She has the most juiciest tale. She used to call Boney Kapporr "Bhaiya" while she lived with him and his wife. 🤢 Arjun Kapoor and his sister had a terrible childhood because of this (as per the interview he did a while back)

-Karishma Kapoor: Her now estranges husband is a divorcee (not sure if he had kids with his previous wife). Weird thing is, this was an arranged-marriage. 😕

-Hema Malini: She was so sought after back in her days. Why would she agree to be the second wife of Dharmenda who had grown up sons.

I'm probably missing some but this is a compiled list of bollywood actresses with divorced men with or without kids. Personally, I would definitely consider divorced men with a family a drawback. There's beauty in starting a life with someone who is at the same stage in life as you are despite the struggle you might have to face. Being with someone who has already experienced the plateaus of life might be easier but is it as worth it? I don't understand why so many actresses do go for such men.

I'm hoping for different answers than the stardard "because it's love". Truly speaking, you can fall for just about anyone given the right circumstance. So why is there an unusally rate of bollywood women going for men who had previous families?

I don't think the title of Nawab means anything in this day and age. Even the billionaire Saudi Kings are rich but I would cringe to get hitched to one of them if they were married before. People today in most countries don't really put that much importance in outdated royal hierarchy. I mean saying someone is better than you just because their family comes from a linage of people who are chosen by god to be ruler of others just doesn't make sense.

As for experience, most guys have quite a bit of experience before marriage or as Sana would put it "ghor paap" 😆

well it depends! title of nawab is pretty huge, many would disagree but compared to a no one like shahid, she has indeed taken a better decision, nawab or no nawab!

^ Shahid was popular at that time I think. But he did look very young in comparison to Kareena.

Lara Dutta is missing from the list. I think Mahesh too has an ex-wife.😕

Anyways coming to ur topic, yeah it does seem a little unusual that so many of these actresses and that too leading actresses, end up getting married to much older and/or already married/ divorced men. As you say, it can't be love. Maybe it's due to the financial security that older and established men provide.😕

Just to clarify, I didn't mean that it can't be love, it could very well be love but such unusual number is kind in one industry is odd.

the men get a second lease on life, where they can go into the loving arms of these actresses and get to live the fantasy. No "old" looking wife for their young at heart mentality.

Some of these bolly actresses were so despo for second hand men that they even got preggers before marriage.😵
