Is 'desperate' SRK too bold for Diwali family film

There is no debate over the subject that Shah Rukh Khan needs a super-hit given that in recent times, both Salman Khan and Aamir Khan have catapulted themselves into a different league altogether.

Shah Rukh Khan is obviously in desperate need of a film that will take him to the 'DDLJ' heights. And who better to do that than Bollywood's king of romance - Yash Chopra himself.

The 80-year-old filmmaker who has spent more than half a century in the Hindi film industry is obviously interested in bowing out in style considering that 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' is his swan song.

He also needs the perfect vehicle to fire his last salvo before he fades into oblivion and Shah Rukh Khan is his best bet as they have both mastered the art of romance on reel.

However, going by 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan's' newly released song 'Saans', viewers would think the sizzling song hints at the actor-director's desperation to ensure that the film is a hit.

Some would even think that it is a little too bold for those viewers who plan to watch this film with their entire family over the Diwali (Indian festival of lights) holidays.

Is Yash Raj Films sending the right signal to its target audience? Not really. Has YRF got its wires crossed. A cautious yes to that.

The film's songs have been penned by Gulzar while the music composer is AR Rahman.
