Sandhya's dilemma-- Country vs Family

With Bhabo making her intentions clear that she wanted a Maa Lakshmi as her daughter-in law (DIL), not Maa Durga, Sandhya will surely be in a dilemma to state her dreams to Suraj. The dilemma is whether she will give family the prior importance, or the country as top priority.

Till now, she has skillfully dodged the IPS conversation whenever anyone tried to make her realize her original goals, be it her friend Preity, or her Madam (DSP's wife). She realizes that she has little chance of pursuing her goals, but now as she receive praises and kudos from everyone for her involvement and successful thwarting of terror attack in Pushkar, she has a golden chance to tell her dreams finally, at least to Suraj. 😃

Prince Andrew said it, princess Diana said it and many eminent persons had said it time and again that "family is the most important thing in my life." As Robert Byrd, the late senator from W. Virginia once said, "One's family is the most important thing in life. I look at it this way: One of these days I'll be over in a hospital somewhere with four walls around me. And the only people who'll be with me, will be my family." Sandhya, in a short time, bonded really well with the family. Last day, Chaturi too complemented Sandhya for her abilities to perceive the values & relations of family. 😃

When a family sends their DIL (like the Rathis will eventually do) out to IPS force to serve this great country, as few have done here and in other countries, knowing they may get killed, it seems that the family is putting country above family. Now, we can argue that the country we serve is ultimately there to serve our family, but still there are times when country comes first. 😊

Many people put their careers above their families, opting not to have a family, to curtail their families, or to work all week or for weeks on end without seeing their families. But then again, we work, ostensibly so that we can provide for our families. Yet do we sometimes put money and success above family? Do we sometimes overwork for someone supposedly so committed to family?
Then we have to ask, when we say that family is important to us, do we mean that the mere fact that we are related to such and such individuals is of paramount importance to us, or is it the relationship which we have with them which is so important? Do we mean that our time with our family is what is most important to us, or do we mean that we love our family very much?

And what is family? Is family a place where we and those related to us eat and live together, or is family a social group which shares some values? If anyone's brother is a murderer, a thief or an immoral individual, is he still part of that family? Is a family only about love or is a family also about shared values?

Family is as important as it gets, but when a family sacrifices one of its precious members for the cause of nation (as Sandhya will be dedicating most of her time for the country in a few years from now on), it goes from being a biological unit of bonds of self interest and love of self and people, to being a powerhouse of godliness and holiness. Family is so important and when family is directed toward goals, centered around values, when love of family is a model for and an inspiration for love of country, then the true power of family and the true meaning of family is unleashed as containing not just the fire of love but the power of a nation. Such families are an asset to the nation. ⭐️ ⭐️

So, Sandhya is still at the crossroads--> whether to serve her family full-time or to sacrifice a larger part of family life for serving the police force efficiently, and we all know, she will settle for the cause of police force & country in general, and Suraj will play a big role in helping her to achieve her dreams which she had been dreaming of since childhood. 😳

Wonderful and thought provoking post ,Saibal. That is exactly the dilemma which every family which sends their sons or daughters to the armed forces or police faces. It is a very great sacrifice by the family to allow their children to pursue their dreams of this nature, where when you live, your life is in danger and if you die the nation just remembers you for a week and than the family is left orphaned. You may be posted to hostile areas and be away from the family for long stretches, if it is a non family station.SO EVEN WHEN ALIVE LIFE IS NOT A BED OF ROSES.Apart from you in the police force, the family is also endangered due to threats from gangsters.Only extreme sense of patriotism and commitment can make you choose this profession .SANDHYA IN THIS SERIAL IS SHOWN TO HAVE ALL THOSE QUALITIES, BUT IF WE EXPECT BHABO TO ACCEPT THE IPS DREAM, IT IS GOING TO BE NO CAKE WALK.SURAJ ALSO I THINK IS UNAWARE OF THE SEPARATION ASPECT AND SINCE HE IS MADLY IN LOVE WITH SANDHYA WILL SUPPORT HER IN EVERYTHING. It will be a very difficult choice for both.It is an uphill task.First convincing Bhabo, than completing graduation and than the civil services preparation, passing it and than long period of separation..Hoping for a wonderful track once again.Let's see how they handle this issue sensitively.

well said saibal .👏.
it ultimately boils down to the fact that how much ur dreams mean to u ..how much can u sacrifice for ur ambitions ..trust me it is not an easy choice ..sometimes it doent seem worth it to make so many sacrifices and adjustments to fullfill ur dreams and passions but then ur life will be hollow without them..
sometimes we dont realize that our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate as moms or wives but our deepest fear is we are powerful beyond measure ..
can just go on and on about it but the jist remains
"it is the magic of risking everything for a dream that no body sees but you"_million dollar baby

Excellent reply UMDU, and you have outlined beautifully the harsh reality of police officers & army officials, and I agree, they face threats from different quarters. But they also enjoy a special status in the society. Everybody gives them immense respect. Nevertheless, only extreme patriotism, as you say, will lead anyone to overcome all hurdles and choose such challenging profession.

Thanks Shehjar Ji.
Yup, you have outlined beautifully that it requires a lot of sacrifice to chase your dreams & passions, and only focused individuals do ultimately reach their targeted goals and realize their dreams.

Loved your line--> "it is the magic of risking everything for a dream that no body sees but you"

Amazing post Saibal! One of your best⭐️ I do believe some people are born on this earth to serve a higher purpose. Everything else is secondary including family. If we did not have a Gandhi, a Mandela, a Martin luther King and many others who have made a tremendous impact, the world would be a different place today. Their families have paid the price but it has been for the betterment of mankind.
