Ooohh la la laaa this is fantastic news!!

I'm dying to find a good dvd cuz still no luck :( Barfi rocks!! Yeah I'm rooting for Team Barfi despite not watching the flick cuz it sounds like a damn good movie

wow .. now we want to show hollywood people how we take a few scenes from each one of their movies and make one of ours ... great .. a national secret will be out internationally

all being said, barfi definitely is my fav movie of the year but with all the copy-paste acts, it should not have been nominated for oscars

Agree! Congratz to Barfi for sure, but there's no way it's even gonna get nominated--if something as original as Peepli Live can't make it, I see it difficult for Barfi to make it through. But that being said, who knows how world cinema has been this year. It just might if there aren't as many good flicks out.

just glad Hollywood will know Indian movies are not just either docu dramas about poverty and social injustice or running around trees.

barfi will show them something different and so happy they

will get to see it. this movie needs to be enjoyedby people

of all cultures. joy simplicity has no barriers.

Q. Is Barfi the best choice for the Oscars and can it win it?

A. The west does not care for Indian cinema so whether its best or worst choice does not matter as whatever film goes needs a miracle to win. The fact is non Asian audiences and juries at awards in the west are not interested in Indian films and look down at them so actually its best not to send any film. Also the phenomenal growth of Hindi cinema over the last 50 years has been due to entertainment for the masses not awards be it Indian awards or foreign.

well said...and I think PC might have just watched Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man to learn how to act like her character...it's not the most original or the most "ethnic". This is Germany and France win so many over WW2 and Holocaust films--b/c they make films about their history/culture. I really think Indian filmmakers should make more historical dramas that captivate the struggles India's had to become a free, democratic nation--that's why Mother India and Lagaan struck a chord with Oscar voters.
