Vidishaa, u r really progressing daily with ur writing skill... I'm kinda totally loving it... Its a pretty new concept... It wud be really interesting to see what happens next, when mallika enters the scene...

But a question. How will Nidhi be happy knowing Ashutosh married her out of guilt.

She knows he loves Mallika. Or does he love Nidhi in reality?😕

Whatever, i am hooked.

Ashu went home after the sindoor daan. His mind was in turmoil.."How will I face Mallika? what shall I tell her? I have joined the league of love rats by getting married without even informing her...granted there are plenty of guys who desire to marry her, but it doesn't absolve me of my sins. She'll be hurt but I hope she doesn't get emotionally scarred forever...she had plenty of admirers in college, how I wish she had loved one of them rather than me. Mallika! Mallika please forgive me. //Ashutosh's tirade against himself went on for another hour after which he got up and took out all the gifts given to him by Mallika and packed it in a bag and placed it in the attic.//

Out of sight out of mind??? Ashu tried to hide all things which reminded him of Mallika but it wasn't enough. How could he purge Mallika's thoughts from his mind? She will return soon and he would have to face her in the hospital. Ashu decided to avoid calling her as these things have to be discussed face to face..he would accompany her home after her shift and break the news to her.

Ashu was a man of his words. Going back on his promise to marry Nidhi was no longer an option...but what about the promises he had made to Mallika. Was there a hierarchy among promises?

Anjie had asked Dr.Ranganath to avoid discussing anything related to Mallika with Ashu. She managed to convince him after a lot of arguments and counter arguments. The more Ashu thought about Mallika the greater the chance of going back on his promise- and Anjie didn't want that to happen.

Ashutosh resumed his duties...he did his best to hide his mental state from the world. He kept himself busy so that he didn't have time to think about Mallika...He had difficulty in sleeping at night and popped pills in order to go to sleep.

He dreaded the day he would have to face Mallika. He was well aware of the enormity of injustice he had done to her. The moral dilemma never went away.

The day Mallika was scheduled to return passed by...the staff at Kotnis failed in their efforts to contact her. They finally pieced together information they had and found out a plausible reason.
The nursing home run by Dr.Trehan(Mallika's dad) was raided two days ago and police found evidence that corroborated the tip-off they had received. Illegal sex determination and foeticide was being clandestinely carried out there. Dr.Trehan was absconding and it was possible that he intimated his family, who was away on pilgrimage, to go into hiding. Mallika was a doctor too and police would have surely interrogated her even though she worked elsewhere...a lot of women undergo unpleasant experience while dealing with the police. It was possible that she is away because of fear of being harassed.

They were a tech savvy family and hence knew that police would try to track their phones. They disposed them and avoided calling people from local booths, there was a high probability that police were monitoring the phones of their near ones.

Police came to enquire about Mallika in KGH. The lethargic attitude of the police was on full display. Two constables were sent there and no senior officer ever contacted them. One of the constables was drunk. After a cursory examination of attendance records, they asked to meet Ashutosh( as his number had received a lot of calls from Mallika's phone prior to the raid) . Dr. Ranganath told them that Ashu was in the OT. The constables were in no mood to wait..one demanded that Ashu be called at once. The hospital management came to know about Mallika's story...they knew from experience that the police would harass them without a shred of evidence...they might even concoct evidence and create trouble for them all...the only way out was to give them what they wanted and thereby save kgh from legal troubles. Money changed hands in minutes and normalcy was attained before Ashu's return.

Ranganath successfully insulated Ashu from the developments.He suggested that he take a few days leave before his wedding. Ashu gave him a dry smile..but BB prevailed on him and he budged. "Anyway that'll ensure that I don't have to face Mallika before my wedding." thought Ashu. The wedding was to be a hush-hush affair. BB took pains to ensure that no one sabotaged their plans. Friends and relatives were to be informed at the nth moment. Ashu had told the other doctors that he was going on a vacation...tongues would have wagged and created a mess even before the wedding. There was no way he could back down from his promise and deceive his guardian and benefactor. The Trehans mustn't know about the wedding.

Ashu could no longer muster the courage to see his face in the mirror. He put on a mask of happiness for the world to see but when he was all alone the mask would be off and he could see his sense of ethics rot away and conscience decay. He never ever imagined that he would do what he was about to do now.

Nidhi got discharged and the ceremonies took place. Ashu avoided asking anybody about Mallika..he couldn't bear to think of her and hence tried blocking her thoughts from entering his mind on the wedding day.
He vowed to keep Nidhi happy and not let her be harmed by his past...he would face the pain and shield Nidhi from his messed up love life...but then past has its own way of catching up with the present.

Thank God for that...

She knows of his past...so she may well be able to accept...but to start her marriage with a constant reminder would be a very sad thing...the poor girl does not deserve that... 😊
