Just saw Mona Lisa Smile so that's where I sort of got this from. 😆

Well if you've seen the movie you know how it's about young women going to an outstanding college and then getting married.

In the 1950's that's what women did. Their life's ambition was to get married and have babies and keep their husbands happy. 😕

Now 6 years into the new millenium the role of women couldn't be anymore different.😊

If you ask a woman what they want to accomplish in life they would probably answer an outstanding career😉 and then a married life.

My question is...

How did the roles of women change?

What caused it and is it a good change?

___________

My opinion: I think it's the best thing ever.😆

Feminism all the way.😉

i would like to say...at least their priorities have shifted. its education and then family. also of course its a good change we are far from what we were 50 years ago. its a pretty fast change if one thinks about it. a role (family number one) for woman changed fast considering the no change in 19 hundred years. also now if a woman wants to be a stay home mom...its by choice.

i think im neutral in this ..it is gud to be a career woman n i respect women who put their career on hold or become housewives or mothers...but i do think balance is needed in both areas..otherwise too much of one thing tends to make u go insane! 😆

That's ridiculous. 😡 You know how it's apparently common I read on this one article that men are scared of successful women. Now that's stupid😆

In the Indian context, Women were more "gharelu" .. the number of housewives was much more than the number of career oriented women.

Now that is changing. A lot of women want to have a career. Some just want a career ... some want a good career along with a good family life ... a well balanced lifestyle.

As time changes, things change. We dont remain monotonous. Over centuries ... man has changed radically ... so I think this change in women wanting to me more career oriented is something that just naturally evolved ... as times have changed .. women have changed .. maybe the modern lifestyle calls for such a change.

and I think its a wonderful one! .. of course I say that cuz im a girl myself😳 ... but even without being biased over that fact .. I think both men & women shud have the equal opportunity of making the most of thier life. If a women wants to achieve something in her professional life then we shudnt hold her back just cuz she is married and has children.

The Modern (Indian) Woman is someone who handles family & Job side by side ... and can do her best in both ... while maintaining a fine balance.

And I agree with you ... Feminism all the way!!👍🏼

I think the role of women changed because of many reasons depending on situations... like some countries needed more human resouces for the workforce. In some countries, it happened due to women liberations. And in India ( this might not make sense to you and its funny too 😆 ), I think its due to some TV soaps showing women power.

Unfortunately though this definition would be vacuous unless we define the "Modern Man" - Someone who realizes that both of them should be equal partners in maintaining the fine balance between career and family.
